Greetings and salutations all! Going to be another warm day here in Elk Grove Ca. 94 today. I’m anxious for some cool fall temps. Seems kinda quiet here on the 60+ thread lately. I guess some of us are doing what us old retired people do sometimes - nothing.
The wife and I are going crazy being home bound in these COVID times. Bought a new car a couple weeks ago and decided we are taking it on a road trip next week. Going to Jackpot Nevada for a night and then up into Idaho and over to Jackson Hole Wyoming. Then into Grand Teton National park. Then down to Montana to Yellowstone National park. Lots of blue ribbon trout streams in those areas so I’m taking my fly fishing gear. Just looking forward to getting away. We’ve canceled 3 cruises this year due to COVID and 2 other trips. Just really have the urge to get outta here for awhile.
That’s all for now. Stay safe and well.

Well, as of today I can no longer own any guns. Just received my medical cannabis card. As those on this forum seem to be more on the conservative side, I am curious as to everyone's opinion on this. Be honest, I got thick skin.

As to what I do with my guns, I can still own them if I give up my card. They will remain in my friend's gun safe for now.

BTW, reasons for the card will remain private, but it is mostly so I don't get my house taken away due to a marijuana plant.

    Business as usual.
Things are still to new in this area. I wish you well..

Guess this is your state's law regarding the issue of said card . Wonder if that's the case with the rest of the states that allow medical pot . Give back the card and grow your own .

The card allows me to grow up to 10 plants, legally.

Try to get your state to legalize recreational use.

Does your state have the initiative process? One good thing about California is the citizenry can put a proposition on the ballot without legislative approval.

No initiative here that I know of.

Our representatives have no clue when it comes to $$. Recreational cannabis can generate some good tax revenue, but they would over tax it & force people to the black market.
I will shut up now, don't want to get political.

BTW, a former POTUS went to Punahou School, which is one of the premier schools in the state. Lot of rich kids go there, so a lot of pot. Just sayin'.

I smoked pot back in college in the late 60’s and early 70’s. A mellow high but something I can do without. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and couldn’t avoid all that was going on in the late 60’s haight ashbury and summer of love. But I let all that fade into the past. The only way I’d give up my right to bear arms for pot is if I had some significant illness and only pot could successfully treat it. I’m making no judgements here, I feel bad for you that you have to give up your guns. It doesn’t make any sense to me that they make a person give up guns because they use medical marijuana. I’m surprised they don’t make people give up their guns who are prescribed opiates and other narcotics. I hope this is not construed in anyway as political because it isn’t. Anyway Cheech I hope all works out for you.
By the way pot is legal here in crazy California. You can freely buy pot and keep your guns.

Well - made it to another B'day (71)! Headed off to work at the machine shop, then maybe out for dinner this eve - a lot like many other days in the recent past. These notes about hunting make me remember cool crisp days in the mountains ......... and the pure exhaustion when we broke camp, trailered horses and finally got back down with the meat. I enjoyed those days then - but don't know that I'd be quite so quick to recover now!

Happy B day Steve. Those things seem to be coming sooner and sooner.
I too have fond deer hunting memories. I still upland and waterfowl hunt but no longer deer hunt. I have some back problems and wandering around that tough mountainous terrain is a bit tough on me. Besides my deer hunting partners have either crossed over the rainbow bridge or have moved away. My memories are more about the characters that formed our group and the camaraderie. The morning and evening camp fires, that first cup of strong morning coffee, heading out in the dark and watching the sun rise. Seeing various critters like eagles, owls, foxes, porcupines, bear and so on. Miss those days.
    Have a great birthday.

    Afternoon all:
    Another HAPPY BIRTHDAY Steve.
:annoyed: Got a letter from a former dentist that I owe them $255 from about 2 1/2 years ago, ?????, I pay cash in full every time I go to a dentist.
I keep all receipts, so started digging and found the receipt for that exact date and the exact amount they were stating that I didn't pay.
Guess we all know what would have happened had that receipt been somehow lost or misplaced, it would have ended up at a collection agency and I would have ended up paying the $255 twice plus fees.
Same with the garbage bill that I posted about awhile ago when the secretary stole the money, without the receipt as proof of payment I would have been out another $100.
Moral of the story, make sure you keep all receipts and know where they are at or it could cost you!
