Did an oil change and for some reason the threads on the oil filter plug got stripped off. I can't get another plug until monday. Will it be horribly detrimental to drive it without the plug on or will i just lose a couple drops?

EDIT: I am obviously not talking about the oil pan plug. I am talking about the plug on the end of the filter housing. When you remove it you will get a couple of drips but not much.

    thanks

Pray-tell what outcome do you speak of? Your answer was spot on for your name. Yoda never did answer questions. But I think you should have said "Like the outcome, you will not."

You mean the silver plug on the bottom of the filter housing, yes? I hate to say one way or another Joey, but what I do know is that very little oil comes out when I remove that plug for an oil change, and that plastic housing is spring loaded and should hold a seal. But it was designed with that secondary safety mechanism for a reason. If you do it, you need to get under your truck and put eyes on it every time you drive. And I wouldn't if it was my truck.

It might be a good way to undercoat the frame before winter.

10ft-lbs isn’t much force. I sharpied the torques for the oil drain, filter housing and filter drain right on my housing tool to reference during changes.

I edited my original post for those who would read quickly and assume I was talking about the drain plug and run to get their flamethrowers. Thanks for your opinion.

Honestly dude the shade is so unnecessary. I love this site because instead of pouring over hours of research you can get help from someone who might have had the same experience and just help you out. But I guess this is the internet so there's going to be a lot of people with a holier than thou attitude for every situation. Considering you joined this forum less than a month ago its weird that youre commenting on who they will "let" post. Dont be so salty bruh. Life is short and we all have sweet tacomas. Have yourself a beer and relax.

I'd probably drive out to the hardware/parts store to get some kinda plug that I could Macgyver together to hold me over until I got the proper one. But that's me.

At least you didn't drain the trans fluid and run 12qts of oil in the engine like some of those crazy 2nd geners!
