My truck's about a month old, but I noticed this after the first week and then kinda forgot about it. Anyways the lid to the gas fill doesn't sit flush. I poked around inside and didn't see anything obstructing it, nor any easy way to adjust it. I searched the forum and google and didn't see anybody really mention it to great detail.

Anybody have the same issue? Fix?

Gimme a min and I'll post some photomographics

Pics? They’re welded and fastened so not really adjustable, but maybe yours needs a little bending?

I was hoping there might be an at-home solution. Nothing I'd love to do more than sit at the dealership for 2 hours while they adjust a set screw or something.

Aite, maybe I'll give it a try. Not tonight though, I've already had a couple beers. Can't see that going well...

I had an ex who walked by my fuel door with a winter coat on and it snagged on the door, bent it backward. It never sat flush after that.

    It is really annoying.

    Mostly dust and dirt.
So why don’t the fuel doors on Tacoma’s sit correctly?

The hinge binds up and people tweak the doors.

HINGE rod is bent.. try carefully to bend it back, but likely you will have to replace the hinge.. it uses a rivet... common failure point on toyota's...

Mines not flush either, new taco only 300ish miles on it so far. Wasn't sure if it was just me until this post. Now I have to take a closer look at the hinge
