Thanks BrokenTusk. Was not slamming my northern friends, just trying to prove a point to an arrogant American GM worker. by the way it may have been a lucerne not a lacrosse, been a couple of years ago.

I got teased once when I went to upstate Maine. Apparently Toyota isn't overly popular up there...

Yep I was down at the races here in new Orleans and this guy with a Harley davidson edition ford was talking shit about me just racing the jap cars and that I needed to race an American v8 after I had just beaten a cobalt ss supercharged I told him I bet that he couldn't beat me. I have an 08 access cab prerunner v6 2wd. Wish I had the video of all the shit talking he was doing and then how badly I tore him out of the hole and down the strip. Haha it was awesome.

I've got a bunch of friends who drive domestics - one with a 2000 F-150 4x4, an old 4 cylinder diesel ranger, a 1992 Silverado 1500 4x4, a 1992 S-10 and a few others. They give me flak about the yota I drive all the time.

But I'll be honest. I sure as hell wish I was driving a full size domestic. You can say what you want to say about domestics being not nearly as reliable or not built in America. Ya, that is true. But domestic trucks, American trucks, built our country and I'm damn proud of that. Don't get me wrong - my 2001 Tacoma gets me around, but I'd be much more content with a Ford, Chevy or Dodge.

    Let the shit storm begin.

my come-back to anyone who has anything like that to say is this:

my father worked for ford for 30 years and during those 30 years i probably took at least 25 tours through the plant he worked in(edison N.J.). the most profound thing i remember, from those tours(especially the later ones), are all of the crates the individual parts come in: they all say osaka japan. the only part in his plant that wasn't from japan was the engine(which was assembled in detroit)my father(and I) laughs at people who preach "buy american", because of the fact that they are only buying "assembled in america" cars. the same as we are buying japanese trucks assembled here.........

We have a Toyota Tacoma, Honda Accord, and an Acura TL. When someone give me a hard time about our cars I just tell them "Ford, GM, Chrysler?"... I've tried them and it's not for me." ;)

I get crap every day from two dudes at work who drive Ram 1500 trucks.

Saying my truck is going to die soon. Its cheaply made.SLOW and no Power.

I bet Ill smoke a ram in a race.

And with a diff locker for me, They will be stuck more often, And those heavy trucks will just sink in sand mudd and snow.

Pretty much every Tacoma/Tundra/Toyota truck video on youtube has at least one genius remark in the comments section by a Ford/Chevy/Dodge/GM/Jeep owner to the same effect as the thread title. Those types of comments are always so much fun to reply to. I particularly love the "Tacomas are underpowered" comments, lol.

The only time anyone has ever talked shit directly to my face about my Tacoma was a ramp worker in Pennsylvania who asked me if it had "rusted in half yet" or if I had "crashed it yet from a stuck gas pedal.":rolleyes::rolleyes:

Every American brand vehicle has been a failure I owned, and every Japanese brand vehicle has been a success (no breakdowns, no constant or major repairs, reliable). If American companies can figure that is what we want, then they might get our business back... probably not from me.. twice burned, as they say!

    As for my Tacoma:

    I got it in America.

I got if from American salesman.

I got it at a dealership owned by an American.

I have it serviced by American mechanics.

Seems to me, a LOT of Americans need me and the rest of us U.S. TW people for their jobs.

Oh, and my truck is made in MEXICO! :) Thank Americans like Ivan Stewart for TRD as well!

    Jap truck? In name only!

I have only been hassled while driving my right hand drive Hilux.

Sketchy dude rolled up to me on his old Kawasaki and yelled at me for driving a Taliban truck. Then at the next light he said it took him a while to remember to shoot at the right side of the truck to take out the driver.
I figure he was in Afganistan for a while

I did have a U.S. Marine laugh at my Tacoma. (I am a U.S. Navy Veteran and respect all who serve / served honorably.) He talked down my Tacoma every time he saw it. I would just laugh to myself as I collected the Rent from him. Then one day I saw him stuck in his truck. (Snow bank) I used my 10K winch to tow him out. He never said another word about my Tacoma.
