I do have a non stock intake tube, paired to a stock airbox.

This job might be above my pay grade, and I don't want to mindlessly through parts at it. He said he would check function of the front A/F and check vacuum leaks. Can MAF be checked for functionality? He has the crazy snap on reader so I assume he can see everything.

 

It can be graphed. Same for the sensor.

ignore the rear sensor after the cat, that does nothing except say that your cats working.

a graph will also show if there’s an exhaust leak before the front sensor. The graph will look rough, a properly working a/f sensor will look like a sine wave

 

will report back when I meet up with him. I didn't get a chance to visually see if there is a vacuum hose disconnected somewhere so ill check it out.

So...with the 5VZ-FE motor...why are there coil-on-plugs on the left side, but only wires to the plugs on the right?

Wasted spark ignition. It can use three coils and fire them twice as often, it fire both plugs connected to it at the same time. One on the normal compression (firing) stroke and the other on it's sister cylinder's exhaust stroke.

Hahaha blast from the past! I used to watch Mr Ed with my mom back in the day on her first "color" television. The greyscale was replaced with a greenscale

Like how fancy computer monitors used to be able to change the color scale of MS DOS between orange and green letters
