Then they're violating federal law. A check through the NICS system using the 4473 is required in all 50 states, even if you have a CWP. Can be called in or done online. Unless its a private party sale of course, then all bets are off.

yeah the whole permit in NC is complete bullshit...without getting political it's all just a scheme to get more money from law abiding citizens.

luckily if you get a CHP all you gotta do is show your card, fill out the 4473, and be on your way.

In NC if you have a purchase permit through the sheriff's they did the 4473 all you do is turn it into the gun store. If you have a valid ccw you are exempt from a 4473 because it is essentially that of a purchase permit and does not break federal law. If you'd like ill pull up the GS and federal laws that confirm. They do still have to run you through NICS but it isn't necessary to fill out the whole 4473

with a CHP you still have to fill out the 4473, but you dont have to wait for them to call it in and verify.

I believe everytime I've bought a handgun with a purchase permit they still had to call it in before I could leave with the pistol. It's been a while, so memory is foggy.

I myself feel safer knowing legal people are checked to make sure they are legally allowed to own guns...

Thanks, that would be awesome, and no I'm not super rushed to get it installed, I've waited this long I can definitely wait a few more weeks, if I was back home I would install it myself but don't have any tools down here
