My 2005 Tacoma has a loud front end click (almost metal on metal sound) when going over example: a speed bump or driveway curb. Even slowly crawling, I’ll turn my wheel a full 360 left to right and it sounds the same. Metal on metal clicking or snapping. Have had the front end checked twice and mechanics say they can’t find boo. Any one else had this??

Mine had a clunking noise and the mechanic couldn’t figure it out until he did my most recent safety inspection. The driver side upper ball joint was coming out of the control arm when the tire was lifted. I replaced both control arms SPC ones because I wanted them anyway, but he said replacing the ball joint would have fixed the problem. He jacked it up a little and used a large pry bar to raise the tire after he felt a little play in the wheel. That how he finally found it.

Have you had an alignment recently? If the alignment bolts aren’t torqued down to 100 ft lbs it will make that metal clicking noise.

Yes, but torque down the other side. Should have a double nut so to speak. Sorry for the bad pics, its dark and the truck is in the yard tonight.

Rear LCA bolts tighten via the nut you point out.

Front LCA bolts tighten via the bolt head like tumbleweed pointed out.

Make sure you torque them while the weight of the truck is sitting on the front suspension. It should be a ride height. To give yourself more room, put it up on some ramps and take off the front skid.

PSA of the day, grease the skid bolts before reinstallation or better yet, buy some harder ones at your local Tractor Supply....and then grease them too.
