So I only have 91 octane where I am currently residing.... I have no experience with additives other than running Some stuff 15 years ago(Nos additive) in my quads. I would like input and personal experiences, Save you comments please just want real world experiences and first hand knowledge. I would like to raise it to 93-95 for my incoming mod safely without staining my plugs, injectors, burning up a pump, clogging an injector or causing so sort of internal wear on the engine. I'm considering Royal Purple MAX, Boostane and or Torco all unleaded applications.

    A few things
What mod are you doing to require 95 octane?

Don't know what mods you're planning.

Generally speaking. Any miracle in a can should remain on the store shelf and not in the vehicle.

These miracles typically bandaid or mask a deeper problem.

If you don't have pinging (pre-detonation), then you don't have a problem. Octane does not raise Horsepower, it only helps manage pre-detonation.

Perhaps, you could provide some details about your "incoming mod", it could help with more specific answers to your question.

As long as it’s not oxygenated you can throw it in the tank and go no tuning required but if you can’t increase ignition timing you won’t make anymore power.

Forced Induction, I've ran my truck on 93 stock when I lived in Texas and I swear it ran the smoothest it has ever ran with fuel trims more stable on a graph, 91 feels okay but I run it hard and will be running in the desert for a few weeks at high temps once its boosted. Not looking for a "miracle in a can" . I don't plan on waiting to hear my engine detonating I'd rather prevent it. I was thinking blending with the 91

just use E85... you’ll get shitty mpg but the AKI is well over 100. you’ll save yourself a small fortune in octane booster money.

Most forced induction engines will need a modification to the engine management/fuel system control program.

If this hasn't been done, then the "can boost" will mask the fundamental issue.

    Good luck.

I wouldn't throw any of that crap in the tank....maybe except sea foam. Good way to foul sensors. At any rate my 3.5 runs its best using E10 87 gasoline.

I could spend a bunch of time explaining that Top Tier is advertising hype. But I did that in an earlier thread.

If the OP insists on higher octane, his choice, find a racing gasoline supplier. Or check local airports for higher octane aviation gas. You’ll be getting properly blended gasoline.

U don’t need higher octane unless you modded the engine .87 is just fine

I live here in connecticut very close to the ma./ny. borders. I get my gas in ct. or sometimes in ma. Its all the same except for price. Imo, using 91 your wasting money not to mention getting worse performance....at least thats what i've discovered. This truck seems tuned extremely well to run on 87 E10. Seemed the only time i could remember benefiting slightly from premium was in my 4.7 tundra towing once in quebec.

I use non ethanol 90 octane and find that not only does my truck run better, I get 1 1/2 to 2 mpg better fuel mileage. More heat units in the non ethanol fuel as well as better corrosion protection.

Do not use av gas in a tacoma....it'll run like crap. Its blended for higher octane use, and designed to run at higher elevations then you'll ever use the truck for.

The OP wasn't looking for a regular vs premium debate. Simply asking how to boost octane from his local 91 supply.

My opinion..? After boost and a base tune, head to the dyno for a proper tune. In your environment, with your fuel supply.

But, I've been out of the loop for a while. Is VF Tuner now available to open tuning/ dyno tuning?
