So I called the dealership today which probably was my first mistake, asking them if it was possible to update or reprogram the computer if I went to a larger tire size. The service advisor said that there was a front facing camera in the grill of my 2018 TRD OR and that by doing a 2" leveling kit it would throw the ride height off causing all kinds of lights to come on. I have a aftermarket grill that came with the truck when I bought it. I can not find 1 camera in there except for what looks like one up in the windshield next to the mirror.

My question is has anyone encountered this issue of doing the leveling kit and all kinds of warning lights pop on or are they full of BS. Below is 2 pictures, 1 of the grill and the other what I think might be a camera. Can anyone please tell me what the hell it is and what it's used for. I'm new to the Tacos so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma I lifted 2" inches 3 days ago with no problems whatsoever.... no lights no buzzards nothing... I understand what they're saying (in theory) that it might throw the sensors off since they're not pointing at the same place, angle, etc..but as far as blinking lights or anything nothing.
then again raising the front end 2" inches I don't think it's an extreme..maybe a six inch lift with bigger tires maybe... that you would have to ask someone who did an extreme lift....

Not looking to go that extreme with the lift right now. Thanks for responding. Any idea what the hell that camera looking thing is in the windshield?

one sensor is for... monitoring braking distance when there's a car in front of you the brake sensor comes on saying to brake...brake...brake! scared the shit out of me the first time I got close to another car... the other one is for cruise control monitoring the distance of vehicles pulls in front of you when you have it set on cruise control, to slow down and speed up... if it does any other functions I'm not sure...
oh... one of them also monitors temperature outside... if you notice when you turn your car on it tells you it's 99°, fucking hot as hell outside...lol

LOL, that is probably how my wife feel when I ride with her. "Brake, Brake.....BrRRRaaakkke!" she would think I was riding with her if she had one of those in her auto.

my Tacoma also has that feature where if you turn it on it tells you if you don't stay in your lane if you cross over the line it starts to beep letting you know you're falling asleep or you're too drunk to drive...

What happens when the truck is driving up a hill, do the sensors stop working?

I guess it brings a lot of bells and whistles that hardly used to be honest.... the only thing mine does that I can't get rid of is... it open and closes the door locks when I park or when I put it in drive I'm trying to disable that don't like my doors to open and unlock... I always like to keep my doors locked until I choose to open them

that's a very good question... one thing I know for sure if it's raining like hell or if it's snowing it throws the sensors off... I have to habit of during lunch I go to my truck turn it on and take a nap sometimes I wake up and the sun is beaming directly at the truck and it says the sensors are turned off... I'm assuming it's being blinded by the sun light... but as soon as I turn the truck off and on again it goes back to normal sensors warning turns off

Quite a few things at this point..
I literally just got a 2" lift front/back today. I have a pro grille too, and running 265/75r16 tires. Have yet to encounter any sensor issues anywhere and I drove both in city and highway to get home. Even used cruise control (I rarely ever do, but had to test it).

I've owned five tacomas in the last 15 years, one thing I've learned dealers always try to get out of a warranty when they can but they can't tell you the transmission went bad because you changed the stereo in your truck...lol all they can do is not warranty the parts you changed...my experience has been sometimes you get shit from the dealer sometimes they don't care...
well one thing I can add if you changed a part and that part led to something else failing because it's associated with that part you changed that might be a different story....

Yeah I believe so. Lane departure, blind spot monitoring.
