Most “affordable” bolt on Rock Sliders

I googled for a bit and can’t find a direct link. I only find them when building an OffRoad and looking at available accessories here in GST.

I don't have sliders because I am not doing that kind of heavy off roading (especially where I live in NY). That said, if I needed sliders, I would look to some of the good folks on this forum who make products here with pride and have proven and tested by many of the members here. For example, those RCI ones look great!

But everyone is on a budget. The folks at Running Board Warehouse have some lower priced sliders that might be within your budget -- and they offer no tax and free shipping:

I can't speak to these but it is a more economical option.

Aren't these just running boards? I mean, they would provide some protection from rubbing against a rock, but not for bearing weight.

 

They look like sliders and are described as such. No pics of the underside or how they mount, that's always suspicious to me

 

I believe they say they bolt to the body, not the frame. Nothing wrong with that all, but it's more of a rock nerf bar/step. I'm no expert, but sliders to me mean they are attached to the frame and can bear the weight of the truck.

 

I agree with the All Pro though. I like mine (apex) and they will probably have a good deal for BF.

Look into Mobtown off-road. Those guys make some serious quality off-road products at a great price. They have various rock sliders and options to choose from. Some rock sliders can even ship to your door via freight. I have had them on since early 2017 and they withstand everything. Hope this helps OP.

 

Mobtown sliders are $$$, but, the price does include shipping, so maybe that's not so bad.

I totally get your point ... and it is very reasonable, for sure.

I don't think they are rock sliders on the level that many of the vendors here design, manufacture and sell. But the OP was looking for something more affordable. I assume that means basic functionality. I am not sure you get robust sliders for that that kind of price ... but in the right circumstances it could be a reasonable budget option. Since I don't need sliders and am no expert on them I defer to the more experienced off roaders here.

That’s marketing speak for “these black things poke out a bit from the side of your truck”

 

Actually, not really. That is someone reading the OPs initial comment and trying to help. For example:

"I don’t need bomb proof sliders, just decent quality that will hold up to light use and function as a step."

As previously stated, no one is confusing these for the excellent "bomb proof" offerings suggested in this string. Merely throwing out an alternative for light use and as a step the price of $460, no tax and free shipping.

Personally, if I needed sliders I would get the more robust ones but I also understand there are plenty of people who don't need a full on, beefed up product or they are looking to stay within in certain budget.

 

These gets into the realm of what did someone mean when they said that word.

off-roading means different things to different people

sliders means different things to different people

light use means different things to different people

But if I was a betting man, I'd guess OP is looking for frame mounted rails that can hold the weight of their truck based on the information provided. Body mounted rails may be built strong enough to take an impact from a rock or hold the weight of the truck but the attachment point on a Tacoma is not. With some other vehicles like a Wrangler the body mount point is plenty strong to support forces on them.

 

I agree with you, totally. If it were me, and I needed sliders, I would hold out and get hardcore sliders. But I also understand that people are sometimes looking for something less expensive. And while the difference between, say, $450, versus $900, may seem large in the big picture it is really not that bad. Especially if you follow a buy once kind of policy.
