That can't be true, the rear end in your photo is flat and there is nothing big about it.. it's barely round

My first thought was "is that a spirograph?!"

I can do curves on paper, but I'm trying to get back into CAD for some reason.

I liked fooling around in CAD. But my free autodesk stuff dried up.

I've toyed around with Fusion360, which is free for home use. Unfortunately I was pretty ok with Inventor, and those habits seem to be messing me up. Just need to spend more time with it, or go spend more time with FreeCAD.

I'm doing 2d stuff in librecad because its free free. Its 2d, which is fine for what i'm trying to work out.

Solidworks is the way of the future, it's worth the learning curve in my opinion

Never used it. Learned Pro/E back in school, loved it, forgot it when I didn't use it for a while :( Got into Inventor working with a robotics team later.

Solidworks has been around for a while tho, I don't think its going away. $4k for a license kills it for me though. I don't need it quite that bad.

Yea thankfully work pays for the license so I got lucky there. I learned autoCAD in school but didn't get into a job that needed it until almost a decade later and they only had Solidworks, it was so new and different to me I fell in love instantly. Took a college course specific to it just to learn it better, I still don't need it for my job but if they had a "lite" version I'd buy it in a heartbeat

Nice. Having it at work is a huge plus; way easier to put in the hours to get good with it. Fusion360 has the right idea for home use i think, its free and you can pay for additional features (like FEA, i think). My job now has basically zero mechanical aspects so no chance there.

If I can find a way to make tailights I don't hate for this project, I'll be happy. It would be a little easier without Mr. Daniels' help though
