I narrowed my choices down to the Victory 4x4 and the SSO one. I'm leaning more over to the SSO one since I can go stage 2 later on and I'm digging that look.

I thought the chiseled facets of the SSO add characters to the truck's body lines. The bumper grows out of the body like a gnarly tooth. No offense to the no-trimming bumpers but it looks a bit like an add-on afterthoughts/cover-up/play it safe for me. Like it's not daring enough. Let's cut shit up, make it yours, fuck the resale value or whats the next owner wants. This is what I want.

And yeah SSO Stage 2 is the added bonus.

So, a quick summary of options in no particular order:

    1. SSO — cuts required
    2. SOS — cuts required
    3. Victory 4x4 — minimal cutting
    4. Warn — no cutting?

Also, this option was posted in a different thread, anyone have thoughts on it to add to the discussion?

Anyone I missed? BAMF? C4Fab? RCI? So many metal fab companies out there and I’m only casually familiar with a few of them.

I’m guessing this is an odd niche of people who want a stealth steel bumper for winch/lights/brush but don’t want to do a full replacement for tire size and approach angle?

One thing which matters a lot to me is the shape and location of recovery points and radiator hoop. I have such a tight parking situation and I want to get strollers and bikes in/out of the garage as smoothly as possible and I really don’t want to ding my shin walking around the front of the trick to get to the garbage cans. So I’m an oddball buyer looking for as smooth and flush as possible and I would really prefer no hoop and no recovery points (or recessed recovery points). Rather than ease of functional use which I suspect is what most of these bumpers are designed for?

Yes, in addition to the DV8 option you posted:

    https://dv8offroad.com/products/fbtt1-05

    There is also:

    C4 Fabrication: https://c4fabrication.com/collectio...tacoma-front-lo-pro-winch-bumper-3rd-gen-2016

    Greenlane Offroad (aluminum): https://greenlaneoffroad.com/16-tacoma/tacoma-stump-aluminum-winch-bumper

    To name a few...

If you want them without recovery points or a bull bar, you should reach out to the companies individually, as many companies will accommodate your wishes.

Just installed the Body Armor today. Massively strong, straight forward installation. Good price. Highly recommended. KIMG0074.jpg

Meaning lower angle? I'll take some. The phone camera distorts things so much - it's hard to get a photo that looks like real life.

    Work in progress...
You can buy a replacement lower bumper skin for around 200 bucks new. You could buy the replacement skin, cut that, and have it painted to match the truck. That way you can save the original lower bumper skin Justin Case. I think the SSO with the high clearance cut outs is the the best looking thing out there by far.

I have a DV8 Off Road Low Profile, no cutting required, not my first choice, but got it for $338. Had to make a few mods to the L brackets to give it more strength, But it is serviceable. 74DD4FFF-9565-4157-B7C1-F92CB5927930.jpg

I really like the slimline from greenlane offroad, I've seen a few trucks around here running it:

Here's a couple, The light bar does stick out farther than I would like, but again, I was somewhat price driven. I also include a photo of the gussets I welded to the L brackets to strengthen for a lateral pull. The mounting brackets share the same mount point for the winch tray. If I was to place a winch I would probably weld the L brackets directly to the winch tray to provide even more additional strength. If you are considering installing a winch I would discourage you from purchasing this type of bumper. While compact, and tidy looking, a full bumper with additional mounting points on the lower frame to disperse the pressure points would be a better bet.

oh man that is spot on for what I was looking for. Added to my wish list. Trying to calm down from sticker shock. Maybe I need to set an alert on the usd to cad fx rate. Thanks for the lead!

I really like mine. The hoop is low enough it doesn't interfere with the sensor. It is tucked in nice and close to the truck, so close you need to cut curves for where the hoop attaches. Bumper weighed 37 lbs and the winch 89. I believe on the stock suspension it brought me about 1/4 inch lower (I had sliders on before measurements so ymmv)

Yeah it's expensive but you're getting a very high quality product. I think they ran a decent Black Friday sale last year, and the nice thing with it being aluminum is it won't rust over time.
