Interesting, thanks. 2 trees were cut like this and fell in an X across a dirt road/trail, and it seemed malicious. However it was also right next to a stream and it looked like the kind of place I'd want to live if I were a beaver. Thanks

And now I know I should carry a saw with me.

In terms of "Tread lightly" what is my best course of action? Cut the felled trees in half and just push them out of the way?
