they closed our local archery range (outdoors) due to covid and they never reopened which pissed me off

Yeah it’s a 3D range. I have to wear a mask the whole time but I’m usually wearing a camo mask in the woods so it’s better practice for me anyway. And it does suck, they closed for a bit but it’s worth the 45 minute drive now.

Yea I can’t understand why they shut down ours. There’s only one RO at the rifle range and that’s it. It’s a huge bummer cause I can only manage 45yds in my back yard

So it’s permanently closed? Never to open again? 45 isn’t bad though. Are you planning to kill deer past 45? Or just for practice purposes

Just for practice purposes. I was trying to practice out to 60 (not that I’d take that shot if I had the chance, but to know I could if I needed to) before my elk hunt last month.

and yea, website says that it’s a permanent closure. Forest service owns it so maybe that’s why?!

I practiced out to 70 this year. I hope to extend that this year. I always try to take nice close shots but sometimes doeant work out that way.
This year I got pinned down by a fork horn next to the 4x4 I was after. I didnt dare get any closer so there I sat at 47 yrds. Waited for the 4x4 to stand out of his bed and took the shot.

who knows, it’s possible that’s why they closed it. But hopefully it opens again.
That’s awesome. It’s it amazing how patience pays off sometimes? It’s so hard not to get trigger happy in those moments and just let them fly.

so a quick backstory, I received my bow from my sister in laws ex boyfriend who has been hunting since he was 13.. he grew taller, I didn’t. So he gave me his childhood bow. Hilarious, I know. But let me say.. this mfer can shoot a dime at 50 yards and clusters at 100. I would love to be that good some day. But the local range only goes to 20.. and the other is 45 minutes away. 45 yards is a great start for distance hands down. If you are nailing those You are in great shape.

Yep, perfect example was my first shot and first kill with a bow was this year at 43.5 yards

pretty perfect that 45 was my max comfort zone because of circumstance at home
