The easiest way to confirm if its tires or shocks related issue would have a local TW member or someone you know with stock tacoma wheels and tires mount them on your tacoms and go for a test drive. Im still not convinced that its the tires. Pretty sure your previous bfg trails are also E load tires. I'm assuming that you are running stock suspension and stock rear leaf pack.

Wattapunk, I bought my truck used with less than 10,000 miles on it. I honestly don't know what shocks were on it, so I can only assume they were stock. I had been a long time customer to this particular tire store, but for tires only. First time purchase of shocks and just assumed they replaced with same brand as before, not knowing this would become a problem. Did they have Monroe's on before? I don't know, should have taken pictures. My faith in their abilities has gone. Now left to figuring out the problem. I've been in discussions with their "mechanics" and corporate office regarding how the truck rides now, they are sympathetic but not forthcoming.

I doubt they carry stock shocks for Tacomas or any other vehicles. Monroes are more universal for different applications and easier for shops like these to sell and purchase.

    Agree with that.

There is no blame to be had here. Shop could certainly have more Tacoma specific knowledge, and OP could've been more informed, but you can't fault the OP for trusting she will get good parts from a shop and you can't fault the shop for using a well known shock brand that they use often and has been around forever.

It's one of those things, live and learn!

What you can sort of blame on the shop is that they put a heavier, stiffer tire on a truck and then tossed on soft shocks and aligned it immediately, and thought that would make someone happy. Just sort of thought about that.

Thank you AMC, I appreciated everyone's input. I will be obtaining a written diagnosis at the beginning of next week. See what it will cost to make to ride normal again. Or throw my hands up and trade it in :/ Yep, that's how much I had how it's riding.

Trading it in would be extreme and no benefit financially on such likely a simple repair. Start with installing bilstein shocks and road force balancing before swapping tires. If you have to go with new tires, look into C load rated or even P-metric tires for a smoother ride.

Thank you Wattapunk, yes I agree trading would be an extreme. It's frustration talking :/ Monday dealer can put in writing exactly what you just stated. Tire Kingdom is requiring it in writing so that I might possibly, maybe, fingers crossed get some sort of partial refund. My suspicion has been from the beginning that it's strut/shock related. However, I cannot prove what brand was actually on the truck when I brought it in. What I do know (pictures verify) is that they tossed the dust covers and the bushings are half the size they were :/ That being said, it might be cheaper to switch out the tires then putting on Bilstein's. The tires are cool though...I'm taking it all into consideration :)

T-yoda I didn't like the BFG's and wanted something similar to the Goodyear's I had previously, this tire was their answer. I did google it, reading it's recommended for a Tacoma and reviews gave it low road noise and a smooth ride. So now I'm like WTF, excuse my French :/ lynlan1891 the Monroe's where not my choice. This is the first time I've had to change the shocks on any vehicle I've owned. They seem to have caught me on a not paying attention day. $$$$

Pretty certain your factory Bilstein shocks looked like these when removed unless your truck is lifted but don't blame the tires just yet:

Wattapunk, after seeing your post I went back to review old pics. I believe you could be correct. At first I was just focusing on the dust cover, seeing all black. Closer inspection, that could be blue peaking through? First pic is of old shock, second and third pics day 18 of new shock :/

    Another 100,000 mi (at least) / 15K miles/year ≈ 7 years

    $1000/7 = $142/year = $12/mo

throw that shit out and get some decent shocks...

Find a reputable local shop and see what they have to say before doing anything drastic.
If the store put on the tires and shocks and balanced it then I say it is on them. If they thought it was not the correct tire they should have said that before putting them on your vehicle. Same with the shocks.
Not sure where you are located but I bet someone on here could give a good local recommendation.

Hi T-yoda, after taking to Toyota dealer (at Tire Kingdom's request) they found alignment and balance to be both bad. Service Manager informed me that for these tires the toe and caster had to be re-adjusted, more straight and centered than was done. By changing that, tires track straight now, however it does make the steering wheel looser. Said he had never seen anything like the balance that was done. I think he called it "chasing the weight", either the machine(s) were not working properly or the tech didn't know what they were doing. Once completed and paper work done, I sent ingo to Tire Kingdom and are now in the process of sending me a partial refund. Does it ride a little better, yes. I'm running them with 30 psi as another suggested. Still a little bouncy, more soft cloud than hard hammer. I'm still considering changing the shocks. Just letting the dust settle on this for a moment :) Recently had break pads taken care of as well, after all this now it creaks sometimes :/ Thank you for asking and thanks for the assistance.
