I also bought the 5-pack, 5100's x4, U-bolts, steering rack bushings, and main eye bolts.

Very happy with the ride! It was literally night and day after the install!

My front 5100's are set at the middle setting with my factory coils.

I have no rake, the front is perfectly even with the back mind you I have a truck cap on. When I take it off I have a slight rake.

I suggest getting the 5-pack and 5100's with new hardware such as main eye bolts, & u-bolts.

Yay, another happy group buy customer:taco:

Mike and vantaco, keep in mind that tacomajack has a regular cab 4-cyl, and other of us have v6 extra cabs, which are a little heavier up front. So this makes a difference with various coils, settings, etc.

The 5 leaf packs are great. I didn't want any lift, but the guys at Wheelers recommended the 5s over the 4s with my setup (which has changed since the picture) I did the whole suspension/bushings front and rear, and all the work myself except the coils/struts. The worst of it was cutting off the old eye bolts! Sawsall territory without a doubt. There is a post out here somewhere about that episode.

It's a new truck now. Good for another 200K

oh i will doing it myself...trust me, i'm no stranger to working on my cars lol

it's not being "frugal" it's just not spending the extra money if i'm never going to use the "features" of the shocks

it's not like the coils on my car where i may dump it for the summer and bring it up in the winter.....for the truck i'll set it and just leave it

i'll talk to the guys at wheelers and see what he's got to say

    thanks

I meant frugal as a compliment. too many people just shit money away. I run my fronts at 0 but if I add a bumper and winch, I may have to crank it up to level out again. Then again it may never happen. But i like having the option.

OME all around. SPC UCA. This and that.

Thanks I have the 3.4L. I am getting the 5100 and the wheelers 5 leaf. I will usse the stock coils with the 5100 set on the highest setting. New U bolts, bumber stops and I bolts. I did not see the bumber stops on Wheelers. I ordered the shocks and struts from Down South for $295 for all four. The was lowest price I could find.

    Any thoughts???

About the bump stops? Front or rear? I wouldn't worry about them. Unless you are doing a lot of jumping. :D

You realize that putting the billies on the highest setting will give a harsher ride than on zero or 1.25, right? Maybe you don't care because as you say, it is not a daily driver. I don't have firsthand experience with that set up, so I can't really provide a comparison.

Thoughts in general? Hmmm, I think you are having someone else install them for you, so no tips or tricks. Just inspect you rear brake line very carefully, because it is possible to lower the axle too much and stretch/strain/break the brake line. I had to be very careful when I did mine...

I've attached the rear suspension diagram from the FSM. This provides the breakdown and torque specs. Give this to the person working the truck (Sorry, I assume everyone is in idiot until they prove otherwise, and this is why I work on my own truck; I am more tolerant of my own idiocy.)

The torque on the new U-bolts will be different, uh, 75-80 pounds, IIRC. It wil be on the receipt from Wheelers.

    Good luck!

Consider the longer brake line and brake proportioner lift for another $50. I didn't do those when I did the springs, and guess what, I'm doing them today. When my truck was at the dealer's the mechanic told me the OEM break line was too short and that the angle on the brake proportioner was too steep. So, I do not have full function on the rear brakes. I would have rather done all this when I did the other work.

so, I think I will go ahead with the 5 pack leafs and front coils... my main question is this, what size tire are yall running? I am thinking about running 265, 75r 16. I think those are a little larger than the ones already on my truck.. 265, 70 r16.

yall didnt change gearing etc did you? thanks for the info.

255/85/16 (33.3x10) I had to hammer the pinch weld a little and trim some plastic but they don't rub bad.

When I bought mine, it had 265/75-16 BFG A/Ts, and it looks like there was just a little frame rubbing from those.
