More pics along the emigrant trail in remote Nevada, barrel springs with a couple old rock building ruins somewhat intact. This is near Rabbit Hole. The springs was still there with a fair size pond below the rock bldgs. Barrel Springs.jpg Barrel Springs Old Stone House Emigrant Trail.jpg Old Stone House B.jpg

Sorry that's mine, I usually only leave the 3. It's just such an odd number.

Okay this is a weird one, maybe you gear-heads could help me identify this object.
It's historic, possibly railroad related but most likely an old car part.

This was in a large douglas fir round that would have been near the base of the tree. It looks like a railroad date nail, but I'm not sure why it would be in a tree.

There is a current rail line about a mile form this location. There were also coal mining railroads in this area in the late 1800s through mid 1900s.

Couple of random finds from last week. Both found along the shore of a lake, below the high water line.
Part of a shell. I hope this was just something decorative that fell off a keychain or something of the like. Whatever this creature is it certainly isn't native to MT!

And then these. Stainless steel I think, no tarnish on them and who knows how long they've been out. About 1-1/2" long and the larger end has a small hole, can't tell if it's threaded or not. They were lying close together, looked around for more but nothing. Any idea what they are?
