I'm still driving a 5 speed manual Gen 2 and looking at the Gen 3 so I'm lacking any knowledge with the Gen 3 auto for off-roading besides some generic videos on line.

You guys with experience off-roading the Gen 3 Auto, what is causing the nanny problems mentioned in this video or what does one have to do to prevent this when making the proper selections with the auto?

Edit.. my question revolves around the two of them both trying to climb a simple dune after unsticking it, not how he got the truck buried.

His first error was going out alone as a novice. Secondly, he didn't air down. Thirdly, he didn't push and hold the traction control button to turn off the nanny features. Lastly, he drove somewhere stupid and buried the axles. After all of that, there is no truck from any manufacturer that could bail him out.

Yep, we've pulled a bunch of cool dudes out. They are usually telling you how good they are as you are hooking up to pull them out. I'm waiting for a video where Matt get's stuck and needs a winch to self-extract. It's probably happened, but he ain't telling.

If you "self-extract"... are you really "stuck"?

Everybody gets stuck sometimes. We got a hemtt wrecker stuck with the diffs dragging and had to use the main winch to get it out.

I wasn't asking how he buried it.. that is just pure stupidity..

I was asking why both him and the tow operator were unable to climb up the mild dune after they pulled it out, except the last try by the tow operator that was successful. Obviously, the tow operator wasn't schooled in the Taco Auto, which
    prompted my question.

That's not traction control, that's the rev limiter. If you hit the limiter too hard for too long it bypasses throttle input until you lift off the petal. It's most pronounced in 4-low as the engine revs much faster compared to how fast the trans can shift. Either give the trans more time or use 4-high with traction control disabled.

Vsc will prevent you from navigating in dirt sometimes, unplowed slow etc etc.

After turning it off (holding the button down a few seconds, not just pressing it once) and magicly you have a truck again.
