Man. Subaru has some of the ugliest engines...followed closely by VW.

For aftermarket head units, there are two options for surround pieces. Metra and scosche. Both have their pros and cons but the main con of the metra is it being two pieces. This little rim that clips to the radio, and the surround which is held in with 4 pressure clips. It’s impossible to get the two lined up without gaps and the outer piece likes to rattle.

My wife had the brilliant idea of gluing the radio into place. She was joking but it gave me the idea of gluing the two pieces of the kit together. I figured I would be out $20 if it didn’t work. Well, it worked swimmingly. No unsightly gaps and it seems a lot more solid, meaning no rattles.

Best kits makes one too. It is what I currently have installed in mine. Having used both the other two brands, I can tell you the Best kit option is hands down the best.

Yeah they are pretty much used exclusively by any installer worth their salt unless they don't make one same with their interfaces.
