    OME and worth every penny.
Stainless would def. last as it has high (depends on grade of) nickel in place of more carbon BUT S.S. is really made for high heat apps.

A bit of Cr. in the mix would have helped tremendously but cost quite a bit across the board. Galv. mixed in like they started doing body panels but i think would weaken the frame. Dipping the frame, again cost prohibitive.

We just don't want to admit no manu. wants their vehicle to last forever. Just longer than the competition.

How many 2009 Rangers are running around up there?

I see lots. My dad has a 1997 ranger with less than 20,000 miles on it. He has kept it garaged just like me and he has NO rust.

Whatever they use in Michigan is nasty stuff. Last time I was out there you could see the rust creeping on almost every vehicle.

The beat juice Missouri puts down does a good job of keep black ice from forming, and to my knowledge it doesn't eat up steel.... Problem is, once the weather starts, everything switches to salt, and liquid calcium chloride....

This. I got results from Corporate after my local dealer was jacking me around forever for the leaf spring recall. One E-mail to Corporate telling them I'm going shopping for a Ford since Toyota cant deliver on it's promises, and the Dealer was kissing my ass within 2 days with a set of springs that magically appeared.

That stinks! My 05 had a recall for the frame a while back and I barely qualified for it. It rode soooooo much better after, which was a surprise. Was yours recalled too? I finally upgraded to a 2019!

Nope. A vehicle that doesn’t come out of the garage more than 30 days a year definitely doesn’t count. I’m curious how the hell you don’t even drive 1000 miles a year. That’s crazy.

Already have my case number. Corporate said they can only stand by their dealerships decision. I didn't have any trouble getting my leaf springs. Totally agree about Michigan and Ohio isn't much better. It also doesn't help that I live in the country so I can't just go down the block to rinse it off in the winter. Rinsing it off in town means it gets splattered on the way home.

So you think the 3,000 miles a year on my Tacoma is much different?

Anybody who hasn't seen my pics scroll back to pages 6&8. Swiss cheese best describes my frame.

Since you're new to TacomaWorld this should help you understand the rust issue. Many bought used rusty frames without looking, most never looked at their frames until it was too late.
There are also thousands of posts of rust free 20+ year old frames that were cared for but you won't find them included in this link.

Just wish I would have known how closely it needed to be watched. My dealership looked at it several times and just kept telling me it was ok. If you can't trust the dealership who can you trust?

Trust someone whose sole purpose is to sell you something? Never.

Good luck with your frame. Hope you find a solution.

You might find a few members who trust dealerships.
Most here wrench their own go boxes.
I haven't been to a dealership for service since they said I needed my cabin air filter serviced.
1st gen Tacomas DON'T HAVE CABIN AIR FILTERS.
    STEALERSHIPS is more like it.

When you put it that way it seems obvious. Unfortunately I went through 6 years of serious health problems and there wasn't much else I could do.

Fortunately I'm doing better and I now have a good independent mechanic and a top shelf body and rustproofing man. Believe me I would have rather prevented all this but here I am. Hinesite is always 20-20.

2010 Tacoma here up in the great white salt belt .
You cant rely on Toyota to fix your frame .Trust me , I took the truck in for the frame and they said nope !!
You gotta run fluid film or something similar every year .
I took the truck in to my dealership for frame rust and they told me to skate
Ever since then I have been throwing $300 bucks worth of fluid film at the truck before the snow decides to fall .
Consider this mind you . $300 bucks every fall over ten years plus using a grinder with a steel wire wheel ???
Thats a lot of cash and time I cant replace .
There are far better frames out there . Toyota needs to wake up

No they didn't. I spent a hell of a long time doing cast iron gas mains and using a scaler/needle gun and that damn well isn't the look after a needle gun or scaler was used. Someone picked at it at best with a screwdriver for a few seconds.

A proper needle gun/scaler would have blown threw that like a kid goes through a snack sized snickers bar.

The surface absolutely does not have any of the characteristics that would show up using a needle gun.

Your dealership is 100% lying threw their teeth. The mechanic is a liar. So is the service manager.
