Waiting for all the “but X conference sucks and doesn’t play defense” horse shit posts. Well, doesn’t look like the SEC does either. Over 450 passing / 150 rushing on a hyped defense. OKAY. Saban owns the SEC.

 

Biggest surprise this year is Mac Jones. He's ahead of Tua's stats for the start of the season. Now it's true he has the best set of receivers in college football but he's getting the ball to them.

Not going to lie... I was nervous after we gave up 3 miles to Ole Miss, but the second half of last night's game was pretty sweet.

 

I'm very hopeful it's enough to start the wheels turning.

 

With the contract extension they gave him, they can't afford his buy out combined with what good new coach would cost. The wheels are off the Gus bus and it's strapped to the ground and under pinned.

I'm aware of the foolish contract extension. The people who would do the buying out have the money plus what it would take to get a good coach. Unfortunately the most Auburn thing that would happen is they'd go do something stupid like hire Rhett Lashlee.

Pruitt will round out Saban's Death to Assistants Tour this year. One last stop during the regular season. Gonna be a tough week for the Volunteers after that loss at Neyland to UK.

So the playoff picture today is Bama and Clemson. Who are the other two?

We know the Pac-12 is a "write off" again, and the B-12 doesn't appear to have anyone playing at that level. Guess one of the B10 teams will get in after playing a whopping 5 games... Who picks up the 4th slot, UGA? ND? NDSU?

 

tough to say. College football is always giving with the upsets through every year. I will agree with you on Bama and Clemson. I believe Clemson goes undefeated but I wouldn’t be completely shocked if someone barely beats Bama in a shootout style game down the stretch. (I’m not saying it will happen, probably won’t in the regular season, but I do love the upsets and mayhem that comes with those upsets). Time will tell. Let’s play

 

Almost anything can happen during the season of COVID and "contact tracing."

 

I mean. The committee should have come up with a minimum requirement to be eligible for post season play. Plain and simple.


Otherwise, you'll have the B1G conference that has now had a spring camp (virtual), summer camp (virtual) and now a fall camp (in person) while every other team decided to play much earlier. They've had the ability to watch other teams and gain film. Other conferences dont have that luxury because they decided to put their big boy pants on and play football.

So now, you're telling me Ohio State, who has the following advantages:

Multiple camps (virtual and in person)
Less contact in games, because they havent been playing. (less injuries)
More film for the playoffs.
Higher ranking with currently zero losses.

Is going to get a slot in the top 4? How?

 

Same argument could be made for anyone not in the Big 12. Hence, a meaningless season.
