Hey Smiley. Thanx for the info. LOTS of good info. Looks from what I have determined, the NOKYA 55W Hyper Yellow should hot be hotter than original, but over 5yrs they both melted down at the same time.

More info to come next week when I get the new housings..... PICS coming then, I promise.

Interesting, I did not come across that site. The only person on Amazon was a third party seller with a very generic ad and I was sketched out ordering from.

See how things work out with this harness and go from there.
I’m impressed you got that long out of the Nokyas. Both those and my Optilux bulbs lasted almost exactly a year in my 2013.

I’ve got the Hella XY in yellow for my winter setup and I’ve just received a set for my wife’s Jeep.

    Your welcome.

I Replaced the factory H16/19W halogen bulb and chrome reflector fog lights. Tried to swap to a H11/55W yellow bulb but no go on the basic OEM fog assembly. Apparently you can on a US TRD Tacoma that has the better H11 halogen fog assembly. If you have the H16 fog assemblies I recommend going straight to The DDS3 sports in 2900K selective yellow and if you want to swap to white lenses to match the light bar you get a nice 3900K yellow when turned on. Fyi the white SS3 fogs are 5900K and both run 15 watts.

Are you going to swap out the entire assembly for winter?

I swap out my fog lamps and grille during the winter so I don’t catch an icicle and crack them. Over the top, sure, but that’s me in general, I think.

My Tungsram headlight bulbs arrived. Less than 2 weeks via Ebay, shipped from Great Britain via post. Hope to get them installed later today.

Bought the same bulbs but ordered 2 sets, 1 set are installed and the other 2 bulbs for backup. Mine came via ebay/Germany. I did not want to wait for another set to ship from overseas. Not sure how long they will last since the run brighter. Very easy to change.

That's actually a sound plan, I should have done the same. I'll just tuck the OEM bulbs away for now as less desirable backups. I'm hoping to be able to find the Tungsram stuff locally at some point...

I always do this when relying on bulbs from overseas. Then when the first set burns out, you have plenty time to order more to account for longer shipping times and items potentially being out of stock, as is often the case with the GE/Tungsram +130s.

Looks decent from the picture, you can measure the top of your fog and the top of your fog beam cutoff and verify the top of the beam is lower indicating they are not aimed upward.

Unless Tungsram's new H11 +150 became available in the mean time and was even better. :) The +130s are solid performers though, wouldn't hurt to have a spare set on hand.

Correct, that is the OEM high beam bulb. Note that Philips does not distinguish between the country of manufacture for that bulb, so you could receive either a German one or a China one, but both are similar in performance. OEM is German.

Have you done anything in the 3000k light range? I’m probably just going to wing it with the hella lights in my low beams this time around but curious if you already did it. I read through a bit and didn’t see much focusing on color temperature as much. I’m wanting to keep it near the 3000k range for the upcoming snow :(

All the posts cover color temp, in post #3 comparing the halogens there is a comparison color temp chart. If you were looking for a more yellow light though, you might consider the Hella Extreme Yellow 2900k H11s or Nokya's 2500k H9s. There are not really any performance options in yellow, so your best bet is a yellow H9, though Nokya's 2500k coating will be darker than Hellas 2900k coating.

Edit: but to clarify, no I haven't done much for yellow headlights. There was one I tried, let me see if I can find it.

I saw the temp color charts, but didn't know if you had any sort of: "I tried 3 different yellows today" or something.

Thank you! Yeah, I'm leaning toward the Hella's. They get yellow from a film over the regular bulb so the "deeper" yellow (2500k) is just a thicker film. I think.

If you want to try going all the way into the selective yellow range, you could put a sheet of 1-mil kapton tape over your headlamp lenses. Then both your lowbeams and high beams would be selective yellow, and you can run whatever high performance white halogen bulb you wanted and still be that excellent yellow in fog/rain/snow. You can buy it in sheets or rolls of tape, apply it similar to tint, wet lens application and squeegee the water out to prevent bubbles.

Its very obvious to LEO due to it being an external mod however.
