My tent has a backup 12v plug to go in your vehicle. Also as a backup, you could remove the motors and use the included aluminum poles to keep the tent up. Im also including a spare battery that I purchased (and 2 remote fobs) But yea, I get it. Hence me thinking about converting to the gas struts like the current one that they have (thats not a hard shell). Im sure I could buy some parts, I just have not yet.

@scifidelity what other options are there that:
    - not a wedge
    - not a straight up hard top
    - can attach an awning

    ?
Like you mentioned, FSR Odyssey, maybe Eezi-Awn Stealth (but no awning..)

EDIT: Could do an awning like this?

I kinda wanted that.. but my style of camping doesnt really allow for it. I like to move sites every day. Plus the one for my tent looks even bigger.

The ReadyLight is awesome. I have that..

that thing would be fine, just need it to touch the ground and be fully enclosed (or at least hug the side of the truck).

Casey was trying to talk me into a readylight. I dont really see the allure but they're priced decent and with the Bluetooth speaker pod it may be worth the time.

They are helpful if you arrive late, and need light to setup. I like mine, but dont really use the solar charging part of it. I just looked them up, and it seems like the price has definitely dropped from when I got mine. More "affordable" now, but still kinda expensive for a portable solar work light. (Im not that great at sales)

yeah and for that price, why would you not just buy a portal work light from Home Depot? my Milwaukee was way cheaper than that and brighter.

...Now, I'm probably making everything sound a little more dramatic than necessary, but I will say that this trail is probably one of the tougher that I've run from a narrowness-and-body-damage-potential perspective. It is not however a dangerous or scary trail - there's no risk of falling off a cliff as there might be on something like Radical Hill. I can see it being extremely fun in a vehicle that's already a little banged up, where you're less concerned about bumping into things that protrude onto the trail....

First time winter camping with the RTT. It was only -10°C at night but cold enough for me! I've skied in -40°C no problem but it's a different story when you're sleeping in the cold.
    Scene lights worked very well!
