I think the wheels look awesome myself. I've read on here where other people don't like em just because they are so popular...seems kinda strange to me.

Well I went through the black Friday madness again this year. Not as fun as before. This year we got a few great deals but we waited in line outside of best buy for door-buster items for an undisclosed amount of HOURS only to find out they had like thousands of them. Never waiting in line like that again.:anonymous: I may show up just before they open but defiantly not waiting around. Got some good deals at the hardware store, sears, and Orchlen's (which is kinda like a tractor supply).

Oh now its off to do some cyber monday shopping....:D

    Ehhh..

I've been messing with the truck the past few days. Had to work sunday (we're not normally open) and had pretty much all day to play around.

    I...

-Used our diagnostic scanner to set my tire pressure. Pretty f'in cool. I'll never trust a tire inflation gauge again.

-Also used the scanner to see what the hell is up with my Tire Pressure light being on and it said that it basically wasn't getting communication from one of the sensors. I reset that stupid thing and so far the light has not come back on.

-I've been fighting with getting it aligned. Ever since I've had the truck there always seemed to be a little leftward slant to the wheel. Hooked it up and the system asks you to "steer the wheels straight againt" once you're done with compensations. I did and checked my wheel and it was cocked off to the right. Thought, that makes sense and went and set the toe and called it a day. Drove around and was still getting the leftward tilt, me no likey that at all.
Re-hooked the truck up today and did a centerline (front only) alignment. Again, set the wheel straight, check the steering wheel, cocked again, motherfucker. Set it straight again, re-set the toe. So far I think I'm pleased. On the regular roads the wheel is pretty much straight, I'd like to drive a little more on the interstate in the daylight see exactly I'm getting on those conditions.
Going to be keeping a giant eye on my tires for any kinds of unusual wear or anything like that.

nice! I never know what gauge to trust. I went back to a regular stick gauge because 99.9% of the time, the stupid digital gauge i had was not right.

sounds like these tacos are p.i.t.a.'s to get alignment/toe/camber right. You and Neil have had a hell of a time with that though he got his corrected finally from what it sounds like.

What kinds of problems had he been having do you know?

My camber/caster appear ok, even with the bigger tires. The alignment machine registed no difference in specs between the 215/70s and 225/75s.

Getting that damn steering wheel to be straight though...so far it looks good. My only concern now is watching the tires for abnormal wear signs and that I'm not dogtracking going down the road either.

After he installed his 5100's the camber was all off. I think he took it back to have everything adjusted a few different times before he finally got it right with a different shop. He posted a sheet up of the alignment on pg 51

I'm still undecided on what wheels/tires to get. The closer I get to winter sooner I'm going to have to decide. On Thanksgiving it rained all day and driving to dinner I was hydroplaning all over the road. I do like those wheels tho. I haven't seen any Tacoma in my area w/ any different wheels other than OEM. So whatever I decide I think will be different. I'm sure that on the west coast and down south its more common.

I would love to have dura tracs, but at 200+ a tire... eehhhhh... I'm not sure thats really feasable. If you can get them on the 3 I'll be the first one to take pictures!

After I had my 5100's installed in the front, it took my 4 times to get my alignment correct. MY camber was way off, and with the increase in ride height it just made it that much worse. Not only that but my wheel wasn't straight either. It drove my crazy. The first shop refused to take my truck back in after the 3rd alignment and stopped taking my calls. I called around a few other shops and one place finally agreed to get it to my specs. They did charge me an extra $50 b/c it was "lifted" which was just another way to get more money. When I got it back they told me one of my centrics was frozen and it took them heating it up w/ a torch to get it to move. GL w/ getting it done.

i'm ready for it to be dry! im a commercial plumber and of course right now we are outside working on an underground for a couple new buildings at a nursing home. seem to always be outside when it gets cold and wet. pretty awseome working in 18in wide, 4ft deep ditches  called it quites today and headed to the house. we had 2-2.5 feet of water in our ditches this morning from last night, got it mostly pumped out, started raining again and filled right back up. supposed to get cold so it will probably freeze too

Seeing this makes my job not seem all that bad.... It supposed to get really cold again by the end of the week, hopefuly it doesn't freeze. I'm not sure what your options would be then.

^Are those the moto metal or dick cepek? Either way, I like the way the black/silver wheels look on silver trucks.

I believe they are the Dick Cepek wheels. I think they would look better on your truck since the bumpers are color matched.

I'm leaning more towards these wheels. From the things that I have read, these seem to be a better quality wheel than the moto metal. I guess you get what you pay for.
