I say keep the truck. I just got a 4runner. The 2nd row is only marginally bigger than the Taco. Unless you plan to get a 4runner with the 3rd row, it’s not worth it. 3rd row only comes on like 1 trim level and is somewhat hard to find. And they are harder to negotiate on.

In summary, I wouldn’t have traded my Taco for a 4runner without 3rd row. Even if you get 3rd row, it’s a toss up in my opinion.

If I'm being honest, I see myself asking these same questions in years to come and if we're really solving the problem of space and not just scratching the itch for a new vehicle to build, you should be looking at Tundra/Sequoia/Land Cruiser. I see myself leaning LC when that day comes.

I learned a lot from this forum and I would never sell my truck for some crazy price just because I have “king shocks” or anything like that.

In the past I have sold quality parts here for real good price. I’m always fair when it comes to selling.

looks like the best thing to do is to part out the truck and go from there.

That’s good to know. I’ll keep that in mind. I was looking for a trd OR or higher. But not a pro.

Bring that thing back to stock - you’ll have no problem getting a good trade value, especially if you’re taking another Toyota off the lot.

I pretty much traded in my taco for MSRP last week. It’s a crazy world for used Toyota’s.

Don’t second guess the move to a 4R. We had to dump the Taco because it didn’t do enough in the family experience department outside of cramped road trips with my wife’s knees smashed into the dash and my kid kicking her in the head.

I'll echo everyone else's sentiment- strip it back to stock to sell it if at all possible.

I am shocked at the people saying that a 4runner doesn't have more room though. I had both a Tacoma and 4runner in my garage (until I sold the Tacoma recently) and the 4runner is vastly more spacious and comfortable for passengers. Like, not even close IMHO. The third row is kinda worthless in all SUV's that aren't the size of a suburban unfortunately.

Even on the best day with a Dealership that you've used for years and loves your business, the best price on trade in is black book....modded or not.

    This ^^^^^^

Pay yourself an imaginary wage to de-mod and sell your truck. How much more are you gonna get for the truck after the effort, and how much are you gonna get for the parts? See how that number compares to the honest cost of your time. If the resulting balance is $1000 or less, I personally would not bother.

Yup a 4runner is our family vehicle and my Tacoma is mine and when we go to the mountains truck. The 4runner serves our family amazingly

We currently have two haha. A 2016 SR5 premium (going up for sale) and a 2021 OR premium with KDSS. I absolutely love the KDSS so far.
