37’s... Anyone crazy enough?

How's everyone's steering racks doing? How many miles do you think you can get out of your oem ones if you're not wheeling too hard or out every weekend?

 

I'm fully remote for the foreseeable future...even if I do go back in, I'll be at 50%. I'm guessing 3-5k miles a year on the truck at most? I'm hoping I can stretch that out to at least 3 years? lol. Replacing a rack every year seems pretty pricey. So far no one makes a decent tundra rack swap?

 

I’m about three years on mine. I don’t do any extreme off road and I try to never turn unless I’m rolling.

Everything seems okay so far.

 

Why not get a psc tc pump and get a an to banjo fitting adapter?

 

Like stated already, do the poly bushings and add a cooler to it. As long as you dont drive like an ass you should get a rack to last you 2 or 3 years before you have issues.

 

Static steering is so ingrained in me. Still trying to avoid that bad habit on the trail.

I know we have people in this thread running 37s already but I was bored in my garage so...

I took some reference photos of a 37” tire next to my 35s. I know doing it like this shows a warped perspective and doesn’t have the weight of the truck on the 37, but I figured not everyone has an extra 37 on hand, so why not?

My truck has about 3" lift in the front and 4" lift in the rear in these photos. The tires on my truck are 35s — 315/75r16 and measure about 34” tall. BFG KM3.

This 37 is unusual because it is a military tire from a HMMWV that my CUCV uses, which is sized a little differently, so not the best example.

The 37 — 37 x 12.5 r16.5. It measures true 37” with no weight on it.

From what I saw in person, the rear would fit easily and the front would fit but would obviously require the usual hacking and hammering to fit a 37. However, civilian 37s probably measure a little smaller, more like 36”. And of course you'd need to chop chop if you don't want to rub the top of the fender when driving over a curb.

You get a full dose of hacking and chopping but juice is worth the squeeze.
Toyo MT 37x12.5x17 clears full bump and lock.

 

Got to keep them happy! My wife gripes at all the squeaks so I'm constantly chasing them down.

 

Here’s what it takes to fit a 37x12.5r17 grabber x3 on a 9” wide wheel with 3.5” BS to full bump and lock on factory bumps

my low spot was when my size 12 boot fit through the firewall while sitting in the cab.

What UCA are you guys running? I'm currently running TC but considering SPC for adjustability

 

37's? You need to pump those numbers up how about 40's anyone daring enough?
