I got nothing for ya on the monitor side. Sounds kind of like just personal preference to figure out what'll work best for you.

You could do a two pc thing and get a raspberry pi for the second pc. (assuming it can run what you need program wise) or other SFF pc. With the Raspberry pi the power usage is hardly noticeable (its under 10 watts under load)

Yeah, the reason I didn't comment was because his situation sounds more around personality than technology. If you can figure out what's most efficient for you that's the option to go with.

I will say buying an expensive TV or monitor right now is bad timing. Most don't support HDMI 2.1 which, with a new 30 series graphics card or AMD Big Navi card, will support high refresh rates and adaptive sync. At least a new computer monitor will likely support VESA compression over DP 1.4a which allows for pretty crazy high resolutions.

I'm not too concerned about having the latest and greatest, this is a good size to eventually upgrade our bedroom TV to. There are some minor annoyances, like I was hoping to get all the audio to come through the TV and use BT when necessary. This TV doesn't support BT or USB BT. It also doesn't do PIP, even though there are some people who say it can (at least I can't figure out how to do it).

This is all about work, though. I might work a bit through our portal tomorrow to get a preview of how things will shake out. I do wish it was curved at this size, though.

I'll also say that this is almost double the real estate I had before, which at times is a difficult adjustment. I was testing out the Xbox last night and felt I was a bit too close.

I have a couple TVs that have PIP, but can only be used with a couple specific sources. If memory serves correctly, one of the sources has to be analog.

So, robbed my normal desktop of its 8GB stick of memory and got my pc up and going. I have a b-stock EVGA 2070 super in there that is giving me headaches. After troubleshooting with EVGA they said i have a bad card and have to RMA it. This computer shit gets frustrating between ordering delays and bad components. I have a beautiful new monitor and half empty case just waiting to play games.

My 3090 is stable from box. Even opened up afterburner, threw the 107% of stock power it's allowed at it, and it self boosts to about 2.0 Ghz. Pretty impressive for a mid teir card (Asus TUF OC edition). Temperatures on the stock curve level out at around 70c but I'm not happy with the case temperatures. I'll likely go to custom liquid cooling in the spring.

My 2080Ti looks all sad sitting alone on the desk lol.

LOL. I think my boss wants it. Seems like for being a "unwanted" card a whole lot of people want it.

Anyone waiting for a 3070... it's going to be bad. Supposedly only about 2.7% of expected demand will be filled. This is based off of a large European retails actual expected orders and fulfillment they are expecting by launch day and should be similar for other regions and retailers.

Pray the 6900XT is a good card and comes in with volume.

I'm just waiting for a new high end GPU to be readily available cuz I'm not camping outside the store for a GPU ever again. I swapped a RX 550 for a RX 570 so I can play pretty much all of my games but at low settings, was limited to old or casual games with the 550. Still leaning towards a 3080 but AMD GPU reveal is next Wednesday.

I was shocked to actually get a 3090 from the struggles I've heard others are having. I think I made a really good choice picking the mid teir model from Asus since most people either go cheap or go all in. Very few buy the middle of the road level card.

I can't believe supply is this bad.

In seeing how AMD has had difficulty with their rollouts, it is going to be the same shortages.

I hope not. It would be nice to have more than a few thousand available globally at launch. TBF AMD has supposedly been in production since August and the process they are using yields much better than Samsung 8nm.

AMD processors will be tight but I think it will be no worse than 3000 series. What'll be tight are the motherboards. Lots of vendors are warning people that they are having trouble getting B550 and X570 boards in stock. If you don't have a motherboard, try to get one as soon as possible if AMD is in your future.

I did notice the x570 Tomahawk would go out of stock several times over the past couple months at my local store

I am not an AMD fan at all. That said my computer works great but working in IT I feel the need to upgrade every year or two just because.

    Todays upgrades.

I will likely upgrade my 2070 Super video card at some point but it plays games at 4k no problem and the newer generation are going for crazy prices at this time. I can wait.

I built a gaming system for my son using the Z490 with a 10700k. Good system, BUT the 4000mhz ram will not yield any real gains for the price. If you are overclocking, it may help but for the price it is not worth it over 3200mhz. Instead of the inland drive, look into the PNY version- easier to get warranty.

    Other than that, looks good.
