Climate control wiring

I am trying to identify power and ground on the wiring for the climate control in a facelift gen 2.
I want to tap in a few LEDs for my interior.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

To make sure I am reading this right:

14 is power?
1 is ground?

 

Tap into the green/white (No.9) at the back of the climate control plug for the dimmer circuit. You could tap into the green (No.6) for power, but they are some small ass wires.

Are you saying to use No. 9 for power so the LEDs will dim with the other lights?

 

What switches are you going to use?

 

No. Tacoma's use a negative dimmer circuit, so if want your LED's to dim along with everything else - tie into No.9. The power can be grabbed from just about anywhere, depending on how many you have/amp draw.

Maybe some more details on your LED setup will help. I've been assuming they'll be for a sort of cockpit accent lighting, using small single LED's placed around.

I plan to wire a few in , no switch.
Thinking one in the cup holder, one in the tray behind the cup holder, and one or two in the foot well on the driver and passenger side.

I was going to tap the wires behind the "cig lighter" (I've done this in past cars), but was thinking if I tap into the climate control unit, they will function with the lights rather than always on

Probably easier to tap the shifter light circuit if it’s just a few small LEDs. Easier to route those to cupholder area then going from HVAC down. You have to pop up all those plastics anyway.

You mean the wires that connect to the LED bulb that lights up the gears?

This is exactly what I did. I put blue LEDs in the cup holders. I tapped into the green and white wires on the shift connector. I had to use some white plastic to diffuse the LEDs though, since they were a bit more focused in that short distance than I wanted them to be.

 

Just to clarify, I'm looking to add a single LED light into my 2010 regular cab with a 5 speed manual, so no illumination at the gear selector to pull from.
If I'd like the LED to be dimmable, and only on when the headlights are on, could I tap positive lead into HVAC wire 14 for the 12v, and then the ground/negative lead into the green/white wire 9 to create the ability to dim? Errr... Do I need power from green/white 9 and ground to 1?

 

Okay, so one side to green/white (#9) and other to green (#6). For an LED, will it matter which? I'm assuming that the positive/red wire on my LED would go to #6 G and black goes to #9 G/W, being that's the variable ground? I've read about people getting reversed polarity and the dimmer working exactly opposite as desired for LEDs.
