    ...^^^... Very Nice ...

PS ... I just noticed that you are from Dubin, OH ... one of my older buddies owned a fire truck company in that area. His cousin collected Pontiac muscle cars and built & raced boats in FL.

If it's the Sutphen corporation, I'm less than a mile away.

Been there a bunch of times ... Bob Sutphen was a very good friend of mine ... he was older and died a few years back. He always wore an ultra suede sport coat and when it got soiled, he gave it away and got out a new one. He hated flying in an airplane and would drive from OH to his place in FL (driving in the passing fast lane at 45-50 MPH).

Bob & Tom Sutphen were the ones that got the company going for their kids ... they build very good equipment too.

IIRC, their other relatives were also in the boat building and racing business in FL.

Very nice, congrats! So weird to see 428 badging where 400 should be. I like it though, kept it in the Pontiac family, It looks beautiful.

The 428 is rare! I have never seen one in the wild, only photos.

Congrats on the great example of American Muscle!

It's not a Royal or other dealer 428 conversion car. It's actually a documented Ram Air-1, 4-speed, 390:1 car from the factory, but it was stripped when I got it in 1999. I was going to cut it up and make a drag car out of it, but when the PHS documentation arrived we decided to return it to the factory green and make a driver out of it. It's had the 428/TKO/12-bolt drivetrain in it since 2003. As part of this restoration the motor was rebuilt with additional port work, TPI, and lots of other goodies. The trans and rear end were gone through as well, along with most of the other mechanical systems. Because we use the car for long road trips and can get pretty far out into the country in it, it was build this time for reliability and field serviceability. The wiring was completely replaced with a modern harness, and the main fuse block and electronic gauge controller are mounted in the glovebox to keep everything high and dry and accesable by the navigator. There are lots of exposed relays and secondary fuses on the PS inner fender. It's not the show car look, but I can get to everything quickly and without tools. We put the MSD box in the trunk hanging from the package shelf and bolted a second new back-up box next to it, so if the primary unit fails it's just a matter of unplugging the pigtail and moving it to the other one. I've had MSD failures before...I'm ready this time.

    Sweet!

Someone that can appreciate a Ram Air IV car. I had a 1969 GTO Ram Air IV. The holy grail of all GTO’s and T/A’s in all years but only produced in 1969 & 1970.

Thats why I was taken back with your 1969 Bird with a 428 conversation motor swap. I think it’s an amazing car. Especially in today’s advanced motor technology, or even back in the day. The valve covers say it all. :)

Heres my 1969 Ram Air IV goat that owned the streets back the day.

Photos taken in 1982 after a deep freeze of negative temperatures for days on end. First day above 32° F. to pull it out of the garage and wash it. On dirt driveway on a mountain top. My drivers side rear wheel is sitting in a hole. I didn’t even realize it. Makes the car look more jacked up than it was. My brother and I were freezing after the wash, he visiting from California with the good camera. I shaking from washing. LOL

Still the best photos I have of that car. So many cars lost to it, a few won. I’m talking big time muscle, Shelby Stangs and such.

Motor built by Eddie Hill dragsters mechanic. Balanced and blue printed. Other goodies thrown in. I added in the 12 bolt posi with 456:1 ratio coming off the factory 390:1 ratio. Turbo 400 with Hurst dual gate shifter.

64 Pontiac, originally bought with 2 barrel 389 auto. Installed punched out 389 block with 421 heads, 11:1 compression, in-line dual quads, 4spd and 430 rear. Had a lot of fun with it.
