    Also people confuse the original AT3 with the new AT3 LT which is a different compound. The new AT3 LT is still excellent in snow.

    Just ordered a set of 285/70-17 through a local shop to test fit--worried I'm going to start to rub again. I currently have Falken Wildpeaks in 265/70-17 that I picked up used mounted on SCS Ray10 with et -38/ The high negative et creates a lot of poke, which increases the rubbing more than it would with less poke with normal driving on stock height. I did the BMC/CMC, melted, molded, bent the fender liner, banged, folded and cursed the pinch weld out of the way and still had some rubbing. Eventually got around to installing Bilstein 5100s all around with 885s set to 0 up front (no leaf changes in back yet), which provided about 2" of lift in front. My hope is that the larger tire coupled with the increased poke won't be much of an issue with the lift, but it may lead to having to get new UCAs.....we'll see.

    Offset never changed since i had these wheels mounted previously. I love an aggressive offset--I go that route on all my vehicles.

    I can't decide between the 4s or the LT in 265/75/16. I live in the mountains of WV. So I definitely need a good tire for the winter months. But in the warmer months, usually every other Saturday (and sometimes Sundays too), I tow a ranger RT188 boat that weighs approximately 3,200 lbs or a 7x13 trailer with 2 quads. I drive about 50 miles a day to work and back on a 2 lane road. I'm rarely ever on the interstate unless I tow the boat to a lake that's about 75 miles away. I'm frequently on back roads and I occasionally take a rocky trail ride through the mountains.
    I think the 4s will do me just fine, but any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Tires, by nature are a product of compromise, meaning no tire can score 5 out of 5 in every performance attribute, there will always be a give and a take. For example, the LT tire is going to have a stronger carcass and better resistance to the rocky trails you may see, however the additional weight and sidewall stiffness may reduce fuel economy and decrease ride comfort.

    Also, the 4s would handle the weight of either of those trailers, since your stock tire was a 112 load index and the 265/75 in a Standard load is a 116 Load index you actually gain about 300Lbs of capacity per tire just in the bigger size.

    I’ve got a similar driving situation. We tow a 4000 pound trailer every couple weekends May through September, and I live in Alaska so winters are cold and long.

    I had a set of the 4S two years ago. When new, they were nearly as good as a true deep winter tire like the Blizzak. Once they wore down to about 1/2 tread their winter performance dropped but probably would be good enough for any lower 48 winter. Heck they probably would have been fine for another AK winter but I found a set of studded snow tires for cheap and swapped to those, then sold my 4S’s to help fund a set of 255/85r16’s.

    I’m going to get a different tire when the skinny’s wear out, and I’m back to deciding between the 4s, the LT, or staying big and getting XLT’s in 285/75r16’s. I’m mostly concerned that the LT’s and XLT’s won’t have the same winter performance but also overall durability and treadife. I think I’ll prefer the firmer ride of the LT rated tires on the P-Rated 4S, but saving 8-15 pounds of tire per wheel is also appealing.

    @Discount Tire care to comment on the winter performance between the different AT3’s?

    1 year ago, I was looking for info on the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S and found this MEGA thread.
    Unfortunately, I missed the best deal (expired Labor day 2019) and was on the constant look-out for rebates.
    Finally (basically I gave up trying to get as good of a deal as Labor day 2019) and just bit the bullet on a set this Labor day week 2020.
    I can't really comment on the Tires quite yet as I do not drive my 4x4 2002 Tundra very often. BUT the tires look aggressive (in a good way). and I am quite happy with the smooth ride and cornering so far.

    Oh and they just put a $70 rebate promo (valid 10-5 thru 11-9-20)

    Yesterday I had a local shop mistakenly install Lt instead of the 4s tires I ordered. The shop was about to close and I needed my truck for work this morning so they gave me the Lt tires for the price of the 4s. After I got home I discovered that they are the E load rated tires not the C. I definitely do not need the extra load rating for what I do. Should I go out of my way to have them swap them to the 4s? Does anyone have experience with the ride and mpg loss with the at3 lt e rated?

    No experience with the LT, but my understanding is the LT is a bit heavier duty and has fewer sipes than the 4S and is also harder so it may not be as good in winter and wet conditions on such a light pickup.

    In case you never got the answer to your question; no, they are not TRD wheels. But they are Toyota factory wheels.

    You will lose a couple MPGs with those E load tires. Will cost you more to own then the 4s. Make the shop correct their mistake and discount the 4s tires for your inconvenience.

    This is a long shot, but does anyone have these on a black truck with the white letters out? Just trying to decide which way to go. I usually like the white letters out, but am skeptical on a black truck. I do have stock wheels though so it isn't totally black.

    :wave: Hey everyone, I am thinking of switching from my Cooper STT Pro's (285/75/16's) to Cooper AT3 (or AT3 XLT). Ultimately I'm looking for a tire that is lighter in weight, has some off road capabilities, handles better in wet road situations and something that will be a little better for higher speed situations. My commute is short fortunately to work everyday; however, I do take quarterly road trips up to GA to visit family.

    Would you all recommend the* AT3 or XLT or something else?

    I've had BFG's in the past and didn't care for them much as well as Falken AT3W which I am considering going back to as well if Cooper's do not work out for any reason.

    Lastly, idk if anyone is looking to buy tires, but looks like Midas has a buy 3 Cooper tires and get tire#4 for free till 10/31 https://www.midas.com/
