@tonered with no codes being thrown and the description, could this be brake related?

Guess anything is possible, but I have been driving Tacomas for 15 years with 6 speed manual transmission(294,000 miles on previous truck. Since I have gotten the truck back, I have tried starting out in other gears....truck goes.....no warning lights etc...

It seems like it, but it is really hard to tell.

In my mind, esp with no codes, my progression would be:

-- Try pulling the battery terminals. Negative off first and on last. Touch them together for a few seconds to fully drain down the systems.

-- Try a DTC and Learned Value Reset. That will need TechStream and a USB OBD adapter, like a Tactrix. Unless they can hook up with a local TW'er.
Do a 5min idle while touching nothing before driving.

-- Dealer, if a code gets stored.

When it does not move, I push clutch in to keep engine going. Try several times. Then shut engine off.

The ABS in the 3rd Gen is next level, esp the ORs and Pros. It can do really good stuff in all Tacos and is the only one that I have had that I don't shut off before every drive. But, yours is unique problem?

Wonder if there's a position sensor on the shifter that's bad.

Yes. I wondered whether I might somehow be trying to start in 3rd instead of 1st. Tried that to see the reaction. It is not pretty, but truck will move without stalling and there are no warning lights....

Did you use the parking brake prior to the behavior? Some of this sounds similar to the parking brake issue I encountered but much of it does not.

Let's say that the truck is not completely in gear.....What would cause low engine oil pressure etc to come on?

Not been washed. Am in southern Arizona. Only 1800 miles on truck. First incident was about 1300-1400 miles.

First thing we did was to check oil level. Dealer has had the truck twice....I assume that they also checked. They did say that oil pressure was normal.

AFAIK, the only sensor on the MT is for neutral.

If the RPMs dip below idle, the oil pressure drops low enough to hit the sensor threshold.

Doesn't sound like the drum brake issue since the issue resolves upon restart.

Sounds like the brakes aren't releasing for one reason or another. Do these have a hill start assist?

It seems like it, but MT ORs and Pros do not have HA.

I believe there is a problem with CrawlControl on either 2019 or 2020 ATs? I wonder if this could somehow be related?

Describe what happens to the engine RPMs when you let the clutch out during these events. Does it drop like it is stalling, or does it stay at idle?

Or something sticky in that newfangled electronic brake system, a slow switch or a valve or something. I actually have no idea how it works.

Seems like we'd see other complaints if it were widespread
