@emelianenkov how many front and rear camera replacements have you been doing on the 19/20 F150s with bad ones? I ask because mine are finally in and I asked the dealer if they wanted me to leave it for the day. They said no, it should only take about 45 minutes. Highly unusual for them to say that, they usually get annoyed if you want to wait with the vehicle. They're replacing at least the front and rear because they both have issues, but mentioned they ordered the mirror ones too so they might be doing all four. I thought there was an involved calibration procedure with these replacements so I'm wondering if their 45 minutes is realistic or if you think it'll be longer.

You'd be looking at the 6.7 for the next ride, then? I think the gassers are still the standard 5/60

what engine was in that Colorado?

I do like the new rams and I like the transmission in them. I’m just worried since it’s still fca.

Shit, you're right, just saw that. So I guess I have to just factor in an added $4k for extended warranty on my next truck. This is fucking insane.

FWIW, mine's been pretty much trouble-free. Of course, I haven't quite hit 60k yet either.

I haven't seen many front/side camera failures, but holy shit the humanity for these rear cameras! You'd think you were forcing customers to drive blind folded with their entire family laying down behind the truck, with some C4 and detonators there as a good measure, as they're backing up. Its the end of the fucking world! I can't drive my truck without a camera! :duh:
  I haven't seen that one yet!

Doesn't matter; that's what the extended warranty is for.

So you bought extended warranty. I guess that's the key to a new truck these days. I spent over $8k for Toyota Platinum Coverage when I had Tacomas but never used it once. So I rolled the dice on the GMC and I guess that was a bad idea.

Yeah... There are some brands you take risks with. I'd opt out of a warranty for Toyota, Subaru, or Honda any day of the week.

A new domestic? I'd probably go for it. Then again, the warranty on powertrain is pretty damn good for diesel trucks at least, so I wouldn't worry about the small stuff that I can fix.
    x2. Diesel or bust!

Actually, the previous owner did. I just found the paperwork after I bought the truck and paid $50 to have it transferred over into my name :D

Right, that extra $10k for the Cummins would save you the $4k on the warranty...

But, you'd probably get a lot of it back when you traded it in.

My side ones are fine--not sure why they ordered those but I wasn't going to complain. The front one acts up the most, back occasionally. It's funny, 90% of the time I don't use them but the few times I want to (like when I want to back up right next to something) are the same times they don't work.

Those Cummins trucks are going to hold their value much longer than the gas trucks too.

Yeah I'm not sure anymore about these "engineers" they seem pretty stupid...

We had a vehicle with a reverse camera that was not working. One of our techs put a new camera in it figuring that was the issue.. Still no workie..

Another tech looked at it and found the ground wire for the camera was corroded, so he replaced that section of corroded wire.

Do you want to know WHY the wire was corroded? IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY INSULATION OR WEATHER PROOFING ON IT!!!!!!!!!:rant::der::goingcrazy::angrygirl::argue::frusty::smack:

Don't blame us enginurs. Blame PM who says the system has to cost 80% of the prior system. You can only get rid of so much copper. BUT the insulation....Welllllllll.

We're at a dangerous point in aero and vehicle development, where the cost down measures needed for Wall St. looking good for shareholders is reaching a point of diminishing returns. SO for Fuhrd to look better on Google Finance, it needs to drive down costs by say 5%. Well, in the early times of Wall St. and Fuhrd and whatnot, sure we can find that 5% pretty easily (see: a bit more plastic on the interiors).

Now we have plastic interiors, robotic this that and the other thing, cost cutting left and right, but Mr. Wall St. says we still need to cut 5% for the dividends. So, Fuhrd goes back to the engineers and says "No, see, we KNOW it should be an insulated wire. BUT we're not going to put insulation on it, because 90% of the country won't have a corrosion concern, and those far enough north with salt on the roads, well, we don't think there will be that much of a problem.

There are usually entire corporate teams for the cost cutting and efficiency improving functions, in manufacturing it's called Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence (CI, or OPEX, same shit different toilet).

The engineers sit there and say "Yes this is how it should be designed" and then costing gets a hold of it and says we understand, however, it's not going to be designed like that.

    Corporations disgust me.

I think that they should make it part of the New England package to fully insulate wiring... :jerkoff:
