I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport and am looking into changing the gearing to help with towing trailer and boat. Having just a limited slip rear diff. would it be worth it to have them put in ARB locker? Can you have a locker in back with stock diff. in front?

Its not a real LSD. Yes, you can have a locker in the back with the stock diff up front. Essentially you would be getting what the TRD-OR has, aside from a smaller axle. (unless you're manual).

Having a Locker installed would NOT be worth it to me, not if it were for JUST pulling a trailer or boat.
Unless you plan to tow off-road?

If you're talking about putting a boat in the water just use 4WD. A rear air locker (ARB) is at least $1500 installed plus you'll need air.

The Tacoma has a tow rating dependent on the gearing it comes with. I Would not change anything.. The 4 wd and brake assisted limited slip though not ideal, works well enough. Personally, I think it’s better then towing with a real limited slip or locker as an open diff is more durable to begin with. Unless you’re going to do winter towing in deep snow and / or mud, changing the rear diff is a waste of money.

It may be better to buy a weight distributing hitch or heavier springs or after market trailer braking control unit.

The best towing options are vehicles like my old 4 runner which allowed use of low range while still having an unlocked open center diff. It was awesome backing up and down ramps, launching and retrieving boats when wheel turning was necessary.

Yeah, I almost forgot there's a $100 two wheel low mod you can get in the 3rd gen marketplace, works great
