    I ended up leaving the rubber bushings and will wait to see how it performs wheeling before I go through the effort. After seeing the bushings in person, they appear like any other rubber bushing out there so it won’t be too horrendous to remove them with the right tools.

    I bought new stock shacks for like $23.

    put them in the vice. Drilled

    I suppose you could do it on the truck if you did it with care, but the shackle would still have to be off the leaf

    they aren’t the prettiest but they seem to do the job. Having greasable shackles and pivot spots makes things easier and noticeable in ride quality/noise.

    What size zerks did you use? I picked up some M6x1 (15mm long) and they look purty small.

    Thanks for that. Does size matter (at least in this context)? I don't have a grease gun yet but given how small the M6 size is, I wonder if I'd need a special nozzle just to latch on to it.

    no idea. Size is subjective when ingenuity is involved.

    I got my RXTs finally installed with some Fox shocks for up to 3" of lift. Haven't measured hub to fender yet, but a quick WAG measurement shows around 3-4" of lift when measuring wheel top to fender. I know there'll be settling but I am quite surprised by just how much I got. This is option 1, no weight, by the way. I do have leaf liners which I understand will add a little sumthin extra.

    Measure from the top of the axle tube to the bottom of the frame rail. Stock is 8.25”. It’s a much more reliable way to measure. Also make sure the leafs were torqued with the truck under its own weight. You shouldn’t get anywhere near that much lift.

    Shoot you reminded me I hadn't double checked torque back there with the truck on its own weight. I'll do that in the morning. When you say the leaves specifically, do you mean the shackles and hangers, the center bolt, everything?

    I mean the 3 rubber bushings, so both ends of the leafs and the shackle as well. Rubber suspension bushings on any component have a limited range of motion and should be torqued with the truck under its own weight. Just get the bolts barely past finger tight with it on jack stands, then put it on its own weight and tighten them down to spec. In this case, 89 ft lb.

    Thanks for the help. I did as you said nothing appears different at visual inspection but measuring tells a different story. Looking around just under 3" measuring from hub to fender. I will measure as you stated tomorrow. Gotta get a punch to twist the collar on my shocks up front to compensate for the lean.

    I was leery of leaving the rubber bushings in for fear of losing some articulation due to their design vs poly bushings. I decided to go wheeling first and see how they do and then go from there. I have poly bushings in my shackles for reference.

    I went wheeling yesterday and no articulation trouble. Who knows how long the bushings will last because they’ll constantly be strained off-road, but for now they are fine. I’ll report back in the future if I switch to poly.

    This picture isn’t full droop (I still had slack on my limiting strap) but it’s still pretty ok.

    With this Icon RXT spring pack (no leaf added) AND Icons hydraulic bump stop kit (no U bolt flip kit), what will be the difference in total wheel travel when choosing between these two 2.5" Icon rear shocks? The "VS"(standard) and the "RXT" specific rear shock (see pics).

    Will the VS shocks bottom out before the hydro bumps bottom out because they are too long when collapsed? Also, will they limit full down travel , acting like limit straps because they are too short fully extended?

    Thanks.

    VS

    My Icon RXT's arrive tomorrow and excited to stop hitting my bump stops with the GFC camper on it. Can't ride with my gear until I received them, so been a long wait. Going to use all the leafs available and will give feedback. Good info here btw

    depending on how much weight you run. Have you thought about airbags? I have the Firestone airbags with Daystar cradles and the ride is excellent with the RXTs

    I may drop from medium to light/stock since I have the airbags, but it rides way better than my Dakars ever did

    I have my rxts on stage 1 with no aal
    With the go fast and I’m actually pleasantly suprised. Only really sags when I am loaded up with a weeks worth of gear.
    Definitly want to put it on stage 2 when I get a ubolt flip kit. And maybe some hammer hangers. What flip kits are people running and more importantly bump stop height in the rear?
    Pic of truck fully loaded with 9 days worth of gear and food and 20 gallons of water

    I believe I have the Wheeler's off road flip kit. I think the bump stop is 5". Maybe 4". I can't comment on efficacy as I don't routinely carry anything in the bed, but it did seem fine when I had a full load of firewood.

    Thanks for the info, That's impressive it rides that high with the GFC + water & gear.
    Water 180 lbs.
    GFC 270 lbs.
    That's 450 lbs. alone.

    I also noticed you have Access cab (1,295 payload) vs. Double cab. (1,155 payload) That reduction in weight from cab allows more payload.

    My approx. weight I plan to have in the truck:

    Me = 180 lbs.
    GFC = 270 lbs.
    ARB fridge = 50 lbs. (empty)
    Goal Zero Yeti 1500 = 45 lbs.
    20 Gallons water = 180 lbs.
    Joolca water kit = 20 lbs.
    Kitchen kit = 20 lbs.
    Food = 10 Lbs.
    Tools / ARB Twin Compressor 25 Lbs.
    ====
    780 lbs. (no passenger)

    Currently without the Icon RTX's it's Me + GFC and a single Passenger OR 1/4 my gear = bumpstops all day.
