Thanks for the info. I ended up buying from Lassen in Albany because all the Portland area dealers told me they couldn't order the truck I wanted. Called Albany Toyota and they said no problem explain the process and made it very easy would totally recommend going to them again.

I hate having to take my truck in for work I do everything I can myself. Unfortunately don't feel like dropping the fuel tank to replace a pump and doubt Toyota would give me one anyway.

Pays to try another dealer, I dropped off at 9, was ready by noon, and had a free loaner for the morning. Polar opposite of the experiences I've had at the dealer we bought it from.

No prob! My truck is done. Exactly 5hrs on the dot. Won't be able to get it until later though.

I just wanted a basic SR5 which most dealers had at the time. Kendall of Eugene and Kendall of Bend were the cheapest by far and I emailed all Oregon dealers. Went back and forth over a few months before I got the numbers I wanted.

Just got mine done. It took a week for the pump to come in and about 4 hours for the install. Glad it's taken care of, although I wasn't overly concerned about it failing. I did a 3600 mile round trip this summer being aware of the recall.

I recently bought a 2018 TRD. Was told they already did the recall. My engine light came on and I took it in (different dealership I bought it out of state). They said it was done wrong and a seal went bad. Now I’m on a two month wait with my truck sitting at the dealership!

The replacement was completed on mine in about 2 hours. No issues so far. I did come in with about 2 gallons left in my tank.

Dropped mine off this morning. Sounds like Toyota's supply chain is filled up now. There were a bunch of vehicles in for the recall when I dropped mine off.

I took mine in with 3/4 tank of gas.

Service manager said they have a lift that holds the tank while they swap the pump.

Still had 3/4 tank when I got it back.

They requested I try to have it less than half full. They insinuated that it wouldn't be a deal breaker if I didn't, but I'll at least be polite and honor that request. Besides, it coincides with my day off, which is easier than having to shuffle this repair while still putting in a full 9. :hattip:

I reckon they wanted me to bring mine up ASAP, so they'd get their 4Runner back they loaned me.

It's not that bad on Tacoma.

Tundras and Siennas are a mega bitch with a full tank.

I just got this done Monday. This morning (Wednesday) my check engine light came on and my cruise control is not working.

Could this be related or just a coincidence?

It's most definitely related. Call your SM and reschedule. Some of the hoses for the evaporative system (there is a vacuum pump on the fuel tank) are disconnected when the fuel tank is dropped. If one of the connectors on the evap hoses leaks it will fail the self evap test when the truck sits for over 5hrs and CEL comes on. The OBII code is P0456. Check your gas cap too, clear the code and reseat your gas cap. It could be something simple?

Those fuel evap hose connections have small O rings, there is a chance the tech might have "rolled" a O ring when reassembling the evap hose connections.

The tech can smoke test the fuel lines to locate the exact fuel evap leak if that's what's going on with your truck. It depends on which OBDII code your truck is emitting. The tech can follow up with the self test by initiating it thru a laptop using Techstream software.

    Thanks a lot!

I did check the gas cap. I was going to call the service department....but I just decided to show up. Parked my truck right i Front of the door and then calmed down and politely told them the issue and that this had never happened before I got the new fuel pump installed. They are looking at it now.

This (almost) happened with mine. I had asked for an inspection sticker to be done after the recall. They said the inspection was delayed since the recall repair resulted in a CEL. They cleared it somehow - not sure if it was just a reset or what.

Now that recalls are being done, can any of you fellow TW members post the part numbers that Toyota is replacing? Or at least a pic of the work order.
    Thanks
