I guess it just depends on what you hit, speed, size etc. etc. The way I figure it, if I hit something and it provides some level of protection, then great. If I didn't have it, there would be damage without question. It's one of those things that really doesn't have a definitive answer because there are so many variables. If you do get one of these, just make sure your expectations are realistic.....

I run this for one real reason- they are built to take a shot from a Kangaroo... similar to a whitetail. Bumper is gonna get shitcanned if you nail one at highway speed and the truck is gonna suffer too... BUT you’ll most likely be able to get you and your family wherever you’re going safely (in the middle of the night, rain/snow/shit storm, whatever the scenario) Bull bar you’re definitely singin the blues, hoping you got a cell signal to call a tow truck. Some good ones suggested above as well (if it will support the pull of a 10k winch, it’s a sturdy unit)
At the end of the day- as someone mentioned, it’s your truck- only you know how you use it. Not many deer? Don’t get stuck much? No kangaroo on your commute? Bull bar would work fine

They are made by Avid Off Road. I guess they are called bumper guards? Brendon's work is high quality and the quality exceeded my expectations.

ARB “deluxe” I think it’s still called. Most have fog lamp cutouts, I got mine without. It’s a nice unit, relatively light and works with airbag sensors. All ready to accept a winch. There’s lots of options but even as a kid, in my mind there was one iconic vision of a Toyota pickup... and that vision had an ARB bumper on it.

Bull bars are simply a personal decision. Some people like them some don’t. If you like them that’s all that counts.Get some and feel good about it. F the people that don’t like them. I got a chrome bull bar and mounted piaa off road lights on the bottom bar and a light bar on the top. Looks damn good and is quite functional with the lights. Turns night into day when I’m off road.

I have a bull bar that looks just like the one you posted. Came with the truck.

I’ve often thought about taking it off and selling it.

The theory goes, if you hit something hard, the front end of the truck is designed to crumple and absorb some of the energy of the collision. A bull bar ensures the energy is transferred directly along the frame.

On the other hand for a low-speed collision it might save you from front end damage.

Back to the con side, it leaves me a little less space to park and I can’t see where it is. And it doesn’t even have any damn rod holders attached to it.

In the end it’s enough of a wash to prevent me from being motivated enough to unbolt it.

A thousand times? You're only counting the last 24hrs then?

If no one else has said it bull bars are known as damage multipliers in the off-road community as they're typically not ment to take more than 150lbs of force and typically a bump that might just scuff your bumper ends up tweaking the bull bar into the grill and headlights thus taking a one hour $10 touch up job into a full weekend $1000 job.

Sure they look cool but they're all show and no go.

Bumper looks like it did it’s job well though! Doesn’t even look too bent up, although I’m sure it ain’t pretty. But appears you got where you were going without losing the contents of your radiator on the pavement... something no light bar or whatever they call them can do.

Nice Lexus. I love when people put aftermarket tires/wheels on them. They look mean and classy at the same time
