What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Im down for a set. Its always better to be overbuilt than underbuilt.

 

The 3x3 rails support the side boxes so the deck can be as low as possible, like it sits on the frame rails. The rails are flat so there isn't room for crossmembers. Mostly I just had an idea and went with it. I have kinda poor impulse control sometimes

 

I went out with a flashlight and checked all the other places for cracks but none found, that crack thread had me spooked, lol

 

What are a set of oem spindles and CVs going for?

 

this is a great point. (I'm making an up and around the engine strut tower brace for this reason on my truck)

 

what he did is both much cheaper (packs flat, and is cheaper to manufacture) and is better fitting in the end, as opposed to bending something with a tight radius to fit over the larger strut tower radius. Also, once bent, now there is a left-side part and a right-side part (more cost) - whereas doing it in 3 pieces doesn't require the parts to be left or right side specific.

It is more labor/effort on the side of the end-user/installer, though.

I think you'll have to do side specific no matter what. And front and back specific too. That's what I found.

I think you could make it one piece and send them out flat and have it notched in a way that the user could bend it themselves. Shoot me a pm with a sketch and I can attempt to show you what I mean. I think you can make it this way to keep cost down and allow for good filament per user.

 

Saw this on the facebooks this evening. I've been considering deleting the whole bucket and beating up the UCA mount.
