If you're measuring the height from the ground, you're probably getting an inaccurate measurement because the bottom of the tire is flattened under the load of the truck. Try measuring front to back for an accurate measurement. Toyo claims 33.1" diameter.

I don't think you're going to find USA made tires that are SL rated at this point so early in their release. They all have the same code

I just got my 265/75/16 SLs mounted up today and they are Japan Made.

Yep. The actual is 33 inches. I checked by running horizontally as best I could and it was closer to 33 inches. All tires will measure smaller if you are measuring the way I did due to squishing from the weight of the truck. On a side note. I am really happy with the tires. Just got back from a 5-day camping trip in Canyonlands that included Elephant Hill, SOB Hill, and Silver Stairs, etc. including some deep sand and no issues at all even loaded with 4 guys and fully loaded camping gear and never aired down. Smooth and quiet on the highway including runs on the Utah interstate at 80-90.

I've been really happy with them as well! I've put almost 14K miles on them since April! :burnrubber:

And, I don't drive it to work!

SL? Mine are LT. Are you saying the first run of this size was only made in Japan and that there would not yet have been enough consumption to drive production out of the US plant?

I have my shop talking to the distributer also trying to confirm that they can get the US made ones. They keep trying to look online and at descriptions. I think the only way to know on a specific tire is to look at the tire itself.

I'm betting that this Japan vs US made tire design will end up being SL/P vs LT tires. Many do not realize that there is a substantial difference between them.

Yeah, definite difference between those, but it looks like there may be a difference even in the LT rated tires. Post 549 looks like he has E rated tires made in Japan that have less depth on the sidewall tread than the other LT rated tires shown on here.

I don't believe this is correct. My LT Japanese tires have less sidewall lug depth than USA made SL rated tires.

So after my chat with the tire shop yesterday I called Toyo again. They confirmed over the phone and forwarded me the same email in this thread (I think post 490) that talks about the different manufacturing technology in the US vs Japan. Forwarded that info plus this thread to the tire shop so that they could forward to their rep.

Hope this can get resolved soon for me, getting tired of it.

Compare posts below. I think that's enough to disprove it. More comparisons would be better of course.

    549: (LT265/75R16 - E Rated - Japan)
    550: (LT285/70R17 - C Rated - USA)
    584/597: (LT265/70R17 - E Rated - USA)

Can you post a pic of your sidewall? Im curious as to what the Load ID and speed rating is.

From what I remember Toyo stating is that on the LT's the sidewall BSW is US and the OWL being Japan. This response was based on the question as to why the BSW weighed more than the OWL. So to state the origin is associated to size and load rating may not be accurate. It was also stated the reason was that there are slight differences in the manufacturing processes between the US and Japan facilities.

Interesting, does anyone else have at LT265/75R16 to compare to?

Here is the info again from post #490 on this thread. This is the same information the person from Toyo told me on the phone and forwarded me via email yesterday.

I really like those tires - actually they feel softer and more comfortable on highway than stock Firestones....there is no noise usually associated with AT tires...
