On that note. I took the truck to the dealership for the frame recall today. But I rigged the bypass valve open, so it's in Ford Mode. The young techs that refilled the wiper fluid before taking it into the shop were blown away by what I had going on. I noticed that the truck has no torque until 2500rpm and then it surges noticeably. That could be what happens when you run SC cams on an NA.

 

Those techs are probably numb from all the Prius' and Corollas service in their young careers. The reaction after you cracked open your hood must been like little boys catching a glimpse of an upskirt....

 

Just in case anyone is curious. The Ripp coil pack on plug is top heavy, whereas the Denso were more evenly weighted thru out. OEM plus is rigid and Ripp has a flexible shaft. I don't get paid enough by you guys to dyno before and after so most likely an after mods only

 

@jamesepoop Are these the 2nd gen tacoma specific RIPP packs? Or the T4R ones to retrofit?

Super funny, I was looking on Amazon for some UV resin, turns out my girls has some in her nail doing station lol!

 

I ordered a couple months ago for the build. I didn't know 2nd gens would be available until @nudavinci64 pointed it out. It was specified as 4.0 v6 and after checking their website seems to acknowledge there are differences.

You just need more where it counts (whatever that is suppose to mean. I'm heavyset this time of the year lol). I forget now but it might have been you that was questioning the legitimacy about the Ripp coils. The design is different from Densos and maybe .5lbs of lead BB shot in the coil pack. I'd like to know for sure but here's to hoping the possibility that the coil materials are improved and beneficial. My old Densos were nearing 200k.

in coming months im down for a coil pack GB when a taco specific is available. money is a bit tight. ordered new brakes and tires this month. found a nice c-load i like in 35's.

 

the 3rd gen is the same coil pack but different Fit. Rip confirmed they are the same with a diff length etc.
