I have a ram mount for mine and it works pretty well. The rubber thing that slips over the corners broke but the mount itself seems to be pretty solid enough.

I use mine more for "I'm three hours into this ride and my hand is cramping it needs a break" for a few minutes relief than actual cruise control. It's a throttle lock, so if you're going up or down hills you'll speed up/slow down, not really much of a cruise control. Or I'll put it on real quick if I need to zip up a zipper or something and don't want to stop. Or if my hand is frozen and I need to warm it up on the engine for a bit or something. They're sometimes handy and let you use your right hand when you need to.

Also second what you said on the x-grip, I never use the rubber thing when I do actually throw it on the bike. Overall don't use it much anymore.

Not sure if you guys are familiar with this throttle lock:

    https://www.advdesigns.com/gocr2alunmot.html

I used this for the past few years right up until I replaced my 2007 FJR with a 2014 with built in electronic cruise control. There are a few variants of this design and I remember using a few other ones including the Go Cruise first. The link I posted is the last one I bought and the one that for me worked the best. Not a true cruise control but just another variant of a throttle lock these work well enough to hold a steady speed on flat ground and enable you to give your hand a short break or to close or open jacket vents and stuff like that. Came in handy on some Iron Butt rides.

I used the RAM X-grip right up until I watched my new phone fly out of it coming off an exit ramp and saw the phone slide down the shoulder of the road. I switched to the Slipgrip phone specific mount after that incident. I do know other riders still using the X-grip but all of them use the rubber safety thing for insurance.

Years back had a friend that had a Valkyrie. He constantly bitched about it eating rear tires very fast. IIRC he ended up doing the car tire trick on the rear but said it made it handle poorly.

Noticed my rear brake squealing like a stuck pig yesterday. Bike only has 2700mi on her....shouldn't need replacing right? I use the rear heavily at slow speeds, makes maneuvering easier for me. Any ideas?

I remember a buddy told me one time you can use a scotch brite pad on the rotor and/or the pad surface. Possibly they are glazed. My fronts did that for a spell but I never tried this method because they stopped before I bought the scotch pads

Thinking about one of the 2014/2015 FI ones. I’d imagine it would be similar to riding a VTX

I’m talking about cruise control/throttle locks, not what you do in the privacy of your own home

You guys have any opinions on aftermarket turn signals for up front? Two times I've replaced my right side because they just broke going down the interstate due to wind resistance. Wasn't going exceptionally fast either. 77 when one snapped and 72 when the previous failed. I think this has to do with the age of the bike(2009). I think it's just old and brittle. Or maybe because it's British hehe. I replaced the two that broke with ones from the stock rear fender that I removed after I installed the fender eliminator. I'm all out of spares now ha!
