    Would there be any reason to flash my 2020 from 04B80 up to 04B81 besides it being the newest available to the truck? Basically asking if anything major was changed :thumbsup:

    That’s basically it. ovtune hasn’t said anything about changes yet

    Based on past experiences, there is usually a noticeable difference (for the better)

    I’ve gone from 04b12 -> 04b13 -> 04b14

    Thanks for the info!

    I'm guessing that 04C20 is MT and 04C00 is AT?

    And old OVT quote:
    It's up to you about what you want to do, but . . .

    gotcha. Thanks for this tidbit. Been away from the forums for quite some time. Time to track down that thread on updating ECUs

    From the TSB:
    Some 2019 – 2020 model year Tacoma vehicles equipped with a 2GR-FKS engine and an AC60 transmission may exhibit one or more of the following conditions:
    -> Lack of power
    -> Delay/Hesitation
    -> Frequent shift change
    The Engine Control Module/ECM (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of these conditions occurring. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address these conditions.

    In the past OVTune has said that they include things that can't be included in a tune. IE Some coding changes that only Toyota can do. So there is always a benefit to being on the latest TSBs.

    Oh man. Hopefully you didn't pay for that.

    If you did happen to pay, did you see a USA TSB number for those?

    The entire reason for the ECU Update thread was because dealers and Toyota did not see fit to actually update folks without a fight, esp the MTs. You can try to get this update at the dealer, but if you already have the OVT / Tactrix, why get an aneurism over it? :santa2:

    Hahaha! Now that is pretty funny.

    BTW, all CUW files can be opened in a text editor like NotePad. The header info will give you a lot of that info:
    upload_2020-10-21_12-49-53.jpg

    Beyond that, the TSB updates are somewhat foolproof. It will not flash a CUW that is not applicable to your Taco because of that header info.

    Perfect!

    Big time credit to @Saeros .

    :cheers:

    Ohhhhh! The Mac window over the TSB PDF looked like you were inside of TIS. :D

    The version of Techstream i have is the one you have supplied a link to v14.20.019. Should I be at all worried the Service Memo states I need v15.00.028?

    That was on TSB-0043-20 for 04B14 also. I had no issues. In fact to flash CUWs, you don't even need a fully functional version of TS as the CUW is an executable. We were able to flash 2018s with V12 even though it would not connect to those or newer Tacos.

    No problem. It is good to ask.

    Just follow the steps in the ECU Update 1st Post. The TSB flashes are very stable, but there is a chance of soft bricking, unlike OVT.

    Looking forward to the report.
