Question for Armor Lid owners

I bought an Armor Lid for my Tacoma and I really like it except for one thing - the little "key ring" clips that secure the hinges. Seems like a very cheap, flimsy way to keep the top attached. Has anyone come up with a better option?

I have the same lid and I know what you mean. I have been meaning to come up with something better but just haven't gotten around to it. If it helps your feelings, the Undercover lid which is about $200 more has the same crappy rings.

 

you can use luggage locks, thats what i use on my undercover

 

That's a good idea. I may give that a try.

 

I tried that too but the holes were too small...at least for the locks I have. I guess I could drill out the holes a little bit. Anything would be better than those cheap ass rings.

 

I need the same modification to mine. Just installed yesterday and I can see that being a potential way in if they want to break into the bed of my truck. However it would be a difficult way in and they would really want what's in the back of my truck.

Also, did you guys have any issues with your lock or keys? The two keys that came with mine are a little difficult to work. I am hoping this is just because they are new, like most new keys are.

 

Just leave them. I had them on my undercover for 6 years. Besides are luggage locks good for outdoor use? Im thinking after a while you will have trouble getting them off.
