I don’t get it, if I move my foot while driving won’t it turn on or off even if that wasn’t my intention?

I have never had mine turn on or off without me trying to make it turn on or off. Unless your knitting a sweater with your feet, it wont accidentally trigger.

The position of the sensor does not pick up a slight height or any left/right movements. In fact, the sensor itself is set for a 5" range from its mounting point and can be reduced some more so that if you are a foot tapper on your foot rest the sensor could be dulled to help account for that. By design though, this is intended for folks that put their foot on the foot rest and then you raise your toes high to break the beam. In my 3-months of daily driving with the prototypes and now final units I do not have it going off on me.

If you are someone who is always tapping your foot to the extreame then setting the sensor higher or skipping out on this product is likely best.

Cool, just hadn’t seen it mentioned. I’m not sure if I’m a foot tapper or not. And only grandmas knit sweaters with their feet. Seems like a unique approach to the ect switch. I just don’t use mine enough.

I never used mine much because I hated taking my eyes off the road to find the button in a sea of buttons that all look the same, or having to move my water bottle to get to the button. With the foot switch I turn it on and off all the time now, any time I near a hill I turn it on, when I need to pass I flip it on. It actually reminds me of turning on the high beams in my challenger, it has a foot switch to turn on those.

This all started because I like how the truck drives with ECT on all the time but I was getting some 4th gear hang at times....noticed if I pushed the button to disable/re-enable ECT that it would make the shift. After putting a unit together where I could do that hands-free it just became a great mod for my driving style. I've taken it out a few times for feature adds (illumination circuit additions, testing, ect) and I really can't drive without it now.

I am also an OVTune user so my truck is tuned. As I progress into custom tuning I am evolving my base tune to have a more aggressive (read as ECT On-like) behavior which I must say is a lot of smiles per miles but depending on the setup I want to toggle ECT (again for forcing a shift) and it's working great. It's been interesting that this mod was handy both as a stock truck and still now having the same value even when tuned based on how it works for me.

My truck is ovtune also, and I haven’t found myself using the ect much since. Maybe I’ll play around with having it on and see how I like it.

bump - I continue to enjoy the custom OVTune VFTuner tweaks that keep the truck in the rev range, but allow me to "force a shift" with my left foot when I want to up a gear. Optical clutch for the win ;)

bump - get one in time for Christmas if you order now.

Also, thanks to the request of another member I am currently sourcing a disable button to lock out the sensor for other drivers if desired. I also will be exploring an auto-ON behavior for future units (or retrofits) if I like how it integrates.

Shipping a few of these out the door today, thanks for the post-holiday orders folks! I am looking to consolidate to the $60 model but let me know what you are interested in and I'll see what I have on hand, just PM!

After hearing some great suggestions from the community of existing buyers I will have a new custom option with a on/off switch addition and a soon to be released illumination circuit. If you are considering a purchase production is underway!

    Happy 2021 TW!!
