I've finally discovered the reason for a rattle coming from the right side of my dash panel. Now I need to find a way to fix the problem.
If I hold my hand on the passenger side airbag cover and press down on it a couple pounds the rattle is completely eliminated.
Can someone please point me to where I might find instructions to tighten up the airbag cover. I looked in my Haynes Manual but am unable to find any reference to the airbag installation.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    TIA
    jj

I stuffed a 1/4'' diameter wooden dowel stick (about 12" long) wrapped in rubber bands in between the windshield and the dash. Works like a charm.

I have the exact same problem. Every one and a while it will just start rattling, but if you push down on it a little it quits. I'd love to know how to fix it!

I had the same problem. I removed the glove compartment along with the roof of the compartment. This gives you access to the airbag. I stuffed some 1/2" by 3/4" closed cell weather stripping foam between the perimeter of the airbag in the space between the metal framework that holds the airbag and the airbag.
There is also an electrical component that is mounted on a metal bracket on the inside of the dash (the component is about the size of a cigarette pack). Experiment with the foam weatherstripping to make this unit fit tight in the bracket.

The weatherstripping works well because it has an adhesive strip on one side and it stays secure when you apply it.

My dash rattles were more pronounced when my vehicle was cold and got marginally better when the interior warmed up. I am happy to say that they are now totally gone.

Sorry, don't have pics to explain as I am away on business right now. All I can say is that it is super easy to remove the glove compartment to get at these problems rattles. Don't forget to take care removing the glove compartment shock by squeezing the split post together so you can slide the shock off of the mounting post at the bottom end of the shock.

Good lucK. I can assure you that you will be happy with the results once these F#%$ing rattles are gone!

mine was driving me nuts so i had my wife stick card stock between the dash, and in this case, the a-pillar. it's stopped the rattle coming from the airbag cover. we'll see for how long. nice to know the true culprit though. if i get time next spring i'll tear it apart.

    thanks!

nice to know I'm not the only one with the rattle! I had the exact same issue and when it's cold it's worse...after I run the defrost, it quiets down. Now I know that it's a fixable problem.

Yes, if you wanted to take the dealer option, altho i'm pretty sure their procedure involves taking apart the dash.

^^this seems like a more logical option. Especially since most on the forums look for DIYs. :)

If you wiggle your fingers up there (that's what she said) can you feel where the back of the plastic dash panel touches the assembly?

Does it rattle all the time? I know the dash's are notorious for rattling when it's cold. Mine does but it's fine when warm. Otherwise I just wedge a piece of paper or something in mine.
