Careful the angle grinder can heat the edge up quick and take the temper out of the steel. Then its a bitch to keep sharp, or the edge will keep rolling when you use it.

 

To start the cleaning process depends on what i want it to look like.
If i know its just going to get used and abused i soak it it vinegar for 12-24 hrs, the rust just peels off.
If im trying to make it a little shinier then go to town w/ wire wheel.
To sharpen I take extra time and run a mill bastard file starting way back from the edge to build the profile and move to a puck stone, then finish with a diamond stone.

I feel like the shortest handle to use would be 22-24" for the smaller head, once it's to short it becomes a little awkward to swing. The bigger one is a Rockaway/Jersey pattern, and actually designed for harder woods, thats why the extra ears to go down the handle(extra bonding) to the handle. As for the heavier one you could get away w/ a 30- 36" handle. The longer the handle the more ideal for splitting shorter chopping.
The longer handle you could prob just get at lowes home depot, but sand off the shitty finish on it and rub it with Boiled Linseed Oil, any longer then 10 min and your hands will understand.

Looking for some advice and information on liquid film here in the Maryland area. I live in Annapolis and want know if anybody had any recommendations on a place to have it done. Doesn’t have to be in Annapolis as I’m willing to travel looking for the best place for The applying process. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks for the input they are only putting plug in the holes on the frame of third gens. which I had that done a few weeks ago.

I thought they were supposed to respray your frame?

 

Nope when I had mine done they said the spraying was done at the factory on third gens.
