265/75R16 Wildpeak AT3W, Softopper, Kicker speakers, shift knob, Ventvisors, Tint, Husky Weatherbeaters, Hondo Garage radio knobs. The to do list: Bilstein 6112/5160, 3 leaf add-a-leafs, lights, alu skid, PRP seat covers...
It doesn't. I went from the Crapyears to LT265/75R16 Toyo OC ATII and run them at 35-40psi. I get the same mileage as I did before and these tires are 10-12lbs heavier, each. I'm curious what a 2" lift will do down the road. My wife's TRD Pro 4Runner sits 1.5" higher than a std. pro and got 285/70R17s and she averages 16mpg all town driving, I'll get 18mpg with it easy when we are on day trips. I'm not really sure how people get such bad mileage. I'm in the foot hills of the Appalachians and frequent the highlands of PA, WV, and MD; its not big mountains, but nothing is flat. My house is at about 1100ft and most of the highlands are 3000-5000 in the region. Nothing like the West but there are no flat lands between the mountains, its just endless hills. Maybe momentum management?

Sounds like you know how to drive.

I'm in the foothills of the Ozarks and I wonder the same thing about people and their terrible fuel economy.

OP, you can't say anything positive about the despised Gen 3 on this board, the Prior gen fanboyz will attack the Gen 3, and tell you all about its perceived shortcomings, till the death.

I had a second gen, drove a third gen and didn't like it. Every truck has pros and cons. I liked my 4.0 better, but the third gen looks better IMO.
That said, no gen Taco could do what I needed so I bought a Tundra instead. You can either size the truck to your needs, or size the needs to your truck. I already had a tractor and camper, I got a full-size truck capable of towing them without dragging ass the whole time.

You can tow anything with any gen Tacoma, at least one time, if you're brave enough.:bananadead:

So,by your logic, I have a ton and a half truck, hmmmmmm.

A 1/4 ton truck can hold a half ton in the bed.
A 1/2 ton truck can hold a ton in the bed.
A 3/4 ton truck can hold a ton and a half in the bed.
A on ton truck can hold 2 tons in the bed.

    It's true, look it up.

I wonder if guys in the full size forums buy a half ton and the complain that it sucks off-road and is too big. After reading op tried to use cruise control while towing I immediately discredited his post, cruise control sucks when your not towing anything, I only use it on flatter places. How about these people do some research before dropping 40k on a truck that doesn’t suite their needs.

They can’t even hold a gear with no load driving 70 down the interstate. What makes you think it will hold a gear towing that much behind it? My first road trip before a ECU reflash I wanted to put my Tacoma into a tree. It’s since been better with the cruise but still bounces between gears. However I have learned to tolerate it a little better or I’ll drop it into S mode and that helps. Can’t wait until I go back to a full sized

I was going through a divorce at the time. Payment on the Tacoma was dirt cheap and had enough options that I wanted. Had a first gen that I liked a lot so figured why not. Wasn’t necessarily thrilled with how it drove when I test drive it but I what I was getting myself into and for the money I could live with it. Just waiting on some better incentives on what I want and seeing how a job at work plays out before I pull the trigger on my next truck.

Right now I’ve had my eye set on a new Titan Pro-4x. 5 year bumper to bumper warranty and you can get them around 6-8k off (2020’s) so it makes it a good deal. However in my area they only have the 2021’s and they are only around 3-4K off. I used to work for 2 auto groups in the area so I can probably get it close to invoice plus the incentives and maybe be able to get a supplier discount through my new work. I figure once the new F150 hits and all their 2020 inventory is gone they should raise the incentives up on the 21’s. I remember when you could get 11-13k off the new Titans. I’m just hoping 8-10 and I’ll pull the trigger. If not I may just grab another F150

Those Titans are slick. Neighbor has one, tires and suspension (3-4 Inches up) looks utterly fantastic In that dark blue color.

It'll probably be better, me thinks. If I remember right, the titan and the frontier share a frame, but the titan is wider, and has more room for wheels to turn tighter. Or so my theory goes.

And yeah the frontier has a aircraft-carrier class turning radius. You get used to it after a while.

I believe it shares a frame with the Gen 1 Titan. The Gen 2 Titan is an all new frame design by comparison.

Watch my grandpa tow and back up his trailers with his frontier, didn't appear to be any better or worse than the turning radius on our tacos. Then again, I've never wheeled a frontier... Even though I'd like to

Ah ok. Yeah I haven't checked on the latest stuff.

I think there are comparisons that show that the frontier has a worse turning radius for sure. I don't have much basis for comparison though - i have literally the shortest taco ever made and the longest frontier ever made. The taco feels like a go kart in comparison.

I have dreams of SAS'ing my frontier. It would be so much fun.
