If you look at @crashnburn80 testings, no drop in LED bulb will come close in performance to the OEM LED headlights. Hikari Ultras are the best option if that is your only route.

That little bit of light up there is the factory designed uplight. Even the stock halogen projectors have them. They are meant to illuminate Street signs, since they since above the cut off of most headlights.

Ye, the low beams are not as wide up close. There also seems to be three hotspots, not sure how to explain it.

Not as clean as the cutoff from my HIDs, but i like them better than the Halogen projector headlights.

    Canada Eh!
With the two HID retrofits I’ve done, neither set of projectors had that “feature”. Street signs and the like were illuminated as good as ever. That’s even with my lights aimed lower than normal.

Not sure if that feature is necessary.

OP, if you’ve got the halogen projectors and you’re a little bit handy, I’d recommend a proper HID projector retrofit with a quality projector. Bang for your buck it’s unbeatable considering gross lumen output.

HID projectors usually do not have uplight. I think HIDs with uplight would be far too blinding.

The uplight is necessary for less intense lighting, like halogens or these LED headlights.
Proper retrofits are the way to go if you are aiming for the ultimate lighting route.

Here are his preliminary testings for the OEM LED headlights.

Have you used RX350/400H projectors? Some OEM Projectors will come with them squirrels spotters.D8FB3D99-E183-4EF9-816A-8654BC7D5353.jpg

All lighting are led, wheels, tires, 5100 lift, pro grill, bed light, seat covers, door sill protectors.

Hey! Chelu! Im asuming im first from saipan on this page, havent seen anyone here yet but you.

Did you buy yours after market or it came with your truck? I wish the tacomas here came complete.. too bad we gotta pay shipping and fees so we get the wack trim levels.

Would you prefer the oem led head lights? Or should i just go with gtr ultra 2 for my low beams, tho i do like that wide range with the stock head lights. Just doesnt seen to have range i guess.

For oem reflect led head lights. The cut off on them are pretty damn good. Do they have range though?

I got mine aftermarket. AK doesn't sell any trim with them, other than the TRD Pros. Can't even option for it.

So far, there is only two of us here that have the 2020 LED headlights.

If you have to go LED bulb route, then get the hikari Ultras, much better than the GTRs. Crash has tested the GTRs and have came out with mediocre performance.

I prefer my LED headlights over stock or LED drop ins. They also have pretty good range, only HID drop ins have better straight line range.

In pure performance, i prefer proper HID retrofits over all. HID retrofits have far better range, wider and excellent cutoff.

But i like the look of the OEM LED headlights. They are also covered under warranty.

Would be cool if we could have amber DRLs.

Possibly you can link me to crash's test? I am interested in seeing the result and im about to pull the trigger on the gtr ultra 2

See post #3 in the thread above. The GTRs have a very poor design, as in one of the worst tested, they prioritized output and disregarded optical design and as a result the lights have very poor focus leading to poor quality output and loss of distance light. Hikari have the smallest cross section of any LED tested leading to best in class focus for replacement LEDs, providing highest intensity output and best in class distance projection. Hikari has a superior design in every regard and a superior performing product. GTR's design looks like they don't even understand basic headlight fundamentals.

Headlight Revolution makes the GTR Ultras and I believe the same for the Supernovas.
They are basically advertising their own product as better than the rest.

Hikari Ultras are the best tested replacement LEDs for 3rd Gen, as outlined in the 3rd Gen headlight thread. Though the Supernovas have not yet been tested.

HR, as in headlight revolution most likely make the GTR Ultras AND Supernovas. They are advertising their own products.
    Their "testing" is pure marketing.
