I have searched the forum and haven't found anything similar. I thought I'd see if anyone else has found and fixed this for themselves.

    Situation is:
    • Playing bluetooth on truck stereo, arrive where I'm going and shut the truck off
    • Come back and start truck - bluetooth connects with my iPhone (iPhone X) and starts playing music at the same volume that I left it at.
    • After approx. a minute, the volume goes down to maybe 30% of what it was playing at (can barely hear it)
    • Then after another two minutes, the volume goes back up to normal again.
To say this is annoying would be an understatement. Especially on short drives.

I have tried de-pairing my phone and re-pairing it. I've waited for each new version of entune to see if it fixes it. Nothing helps. It is ridiculously consistent.

    Any ideas?

I have notice on my 20 Sport, the volume is usually much louder when I restart the truck than how i left it. Even more annoying, the volume knob does nothing for the first few seconds. I have made a habit of turning volume down to 5 when getting out of the truck and when I start in the morning or after work it frequently turns on at somewhere between 35-50. Does this on Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay.

Glad to hear that it's not just me. Very much hoping that Apple and/or Toyota figures this out. It's driving me nuts.

I get a message saying entune is obsolete and Toyota app does many of the audio functions. Deleted entune and now my phone pairs up every time.

Yes, I deleted Entune, too. Sorry. Should have re-worded it. It's the headunit and the iPhone interaction that appears to be the problem...

I was having some audio issues and I just realized this week you can adjust the volume on your phone for Bluetooth as well. For whatever reason my phone volume was changed and I had to turn it up again. Also on iPhone.

I had a similar issue with my Samsung.
I use routines to automatically make my Bluetooth media volume 100% when it connects to my trucks Bluetooth, but after a few seconds, Bluetooth volume would turn down for seemingly no reason.

Narrowed it down to the Alexa app for Toyota. Uninstalled it and haven't had any issues since.

Thanks for figuring this out. Mine just started doing this out of the blue. Turns out I just installed the app two days ago. Just deleted app.

Kept looking at my volume thinking WTF?

Glad it helped someone. I never did revisit the app to see why it does that.

Are you deleting the Alexa app on the truck or the phone. I have an iPhone with similar issue but do not have the Alexa app on my phone.

I deleted the Toyota Alexa app from my phone. The original Amazon alexa app does not cause any issues.

I have some of these issues where my ringer volume changes on it own and the phone will not ring through, goes straight to voice mail.
I also have other problems with my Tacoma’s communication, 7 error codes. See post 50 & 51
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/does-your-elapsed-time-work-in-eco.656032/

I wonder if these issues are related?
Does your “Elapsed time” work on your ECO screen on the head unit?

Thanks to ktbell444 . That was the issue. I hated deleting the Alexa app, but this was too annoying. Deleting the app from my iPhone solved it immediately. Having spent my life in software development, who puts out software that flawed and doesn't fix it within a year? Toyota should be ashamed about this.

I wish there was an app that would display on the screen "YOU FORGOT YOUR PHONE STUPID!". That would save me going back about once a week.

I've been having this issue with my new truck. Bluetooth volume randomly drops way down. I will try the advice in this thread. At least I am not alone with this issue.

My 12 pro iPhone has a multitude of volume/Bluetooth issues. The only thing that fixes it is restarting the phone.

I have a 2020 ORDC w/JBL premium and a iPhone Xr. A couple weeks ago I started experiencing a problem that anytime I was connected Bluetooth and if my phone played a notification sound or click (new message, locking the screen, etc.) my stereo would cut out and phone would post on the screen as if it was making a call and would not hang up. I am able to reset it by cycling Bluetooth on my phone on/off. Going to silent mode on the phone makes it occur less, but it’s still does it. Very annoying. Seems to be an issue with the phone though.
