Is there a way to change the plastic cover on the reverse camera? I have an 09 and as you can imagine the image isn’t what it used to be since it’s a plastic cover over it it’s just faded.

I would just buy another camera. They’re not too expensive and are very easy to swap out

Do they sell them online besides the dealership? Some plug and play replacement? I want the same spot and same everything. I don’t want to have to re wire or put it in my license plate or none of that. I haven’t checked dealer prices yet so I reckon I should start there.

Yes, they are sold online. I purchased one for my 2012 Tacoma from Ebay for I believe $45. If it is a counterfeit Chicom camera they did an outstanding job duplicating original and it's been trouble free the last two years. Easy plug n play installation on your tailgate. If you buy from Toyota they're asking over $400.....

How come you don’t try headlight cleaner? There are many to choose from under $20

How deep are the scratches? I’m sure with a bit wetsanding, buff/polish will get rid of it or improve it significantly.

I would try a car finish rubbing compound followed by a polish.

Careful folks. This is a lens, not just a relatively flat piece of plastic like your headlights. Messing with the curvature too much by aggressively polishing (rubbing compound, wet sanding, etc.) will distort the image. General guideline: If the scratch is deep enough that you can feel it with your fingernail, you're SOL.

The picture is getting like dusty or foggy and I can tell on the back it’s kind of cloudy I guess
