Are there any local facebook groups you could post in? I had great luck doing that when buying seats for my racecar a few years ago. I found like 20+ local people willing to let me sit in their seats to see what worked and what didn't.

That's a possibility as there is a local Toyota facebook group I'm part od. I may do that when the time comes but in all honesty, I can be a bit fast and loose when it comes to buying some truck parts so I'll probably just buy it and hope for the best. I mean, anything's going to be an improvement over the current seats.

One suggestion I do have since it was never something I thought would be a deal breaker with seats is to measure not just around your waist, but also around your lower ribs. I didn't fit comfortably in quite a few seats due to my ribs and not my waist or gut. I'm sure PRP or a dealer could take measurements to help you better!

Also, in regard to doing small things with large rewards we were talking about yesterday..........

When I swapped out my TRD exhaust and put on the MBRP that dumps before the axle I thought it was odd there was no gasket. My Tundra had some sort of spun wire gasket. I assumed it was normal though on the Tacoma since there was a metal tube inside the exhaust pipe that protruded about a half an inch. When assembled, this tube went inside the muffler pipe too. The fit between the flanges was perfect and I couldn't see any gaps.

The sound was fantastic and damn near perfect except it had a little rasp, and it also seemed that there was some drone at any speed when I had my foot on the skinny pedal. Moreso as my foot got heavy. Meh, I just figured it was the 6 cyl and the diameter of the pipe. Acoustics are only as good as they are allowed to be. I was happy.

Then after a while I noticed condensation was dripping from the joint. I was unhappy about that for fear that I knew it would eventually rust shut. Not that I ever plan on changing the exhaust but I wanted to be able to unbolt and separate the two parts easily.

My fix......red RTV. I unbolted the joint, wire brushed and brake cleaner cleaned both halves. Low and behold I found the gasket. I just cleaned it, added RTV to it, and to one half of the flange and bolted it back up. That was Sunday.

Yesterday evening 24 hours later I ran to town to the pharmacy. Holy shit what a difference it made. No more rasp when I mash into it. No more drone at slower speeds and even at higher speeds it's a completely different tone. It's deeper and sounds much better overall. Best of all, no more leaking.

Amazing how a little change can make such a huge difference!

The cloth seats in the Sport were bad when it was new. I spent weeks trying to find the sweet spot. It got more comfortable over time but never mad me feel like I could plan a lon trip without the thought of the discomfort. A lot of people that have the leather complained about them. I didn't understand when I test drove the Pro. It was not like my Lexus but it was a considerable difference over the cloth. I was able to find the sweet spot on the test drive. I would like to try real bucket but they would have to be wider than me. I wonder if Lexus seats would fit in a Tacoma LOL.

I agree. The seat bottoms are fine, it's usually the bolsters that get me. I'm big boned :anonymous:

Moar interior pieces! I’d finally had enough of looking at the holes leftover from the tech deck so I bought a new radio surround. While I was at it I bought some oil and air filters and spark plugs to save on shipping.

I definitely approve of all these nip & tuck mods for the Ol' Girl. If you don't roll it down a mountain or drown it in an ocean it will look new for a long time to come! Very nice!

I saw the holes for that thing in another picture and almost said something for fun. Decided to save your wallet. Guess I was wrong.

Wel, you know I approve of all the off road shenanigans, but I am also a believer in an equal yin and yang state.

    Nothing wrong with this

Ever since I've been fixing all these other little things, those holes have been catching my eye every time I drive the truck. After this though, that'll be it as far as replacing interior pieces that I've hacked up from previous projects. Then it should just be new seats and I'll be good to go. Eventially sound deaden the doors and roof but that's lower on my list.

Good looking truck Rob. I must have missed it, but how did you add the rack when I thought the dingus took over the front mounting holes?

This is why I always try to mount things on small, removable parts inside.

I thought you had proofed the roof when you did the floor?

I'll do my doors one of these days.

No, I didn't have enough material. I've done the back wall and the floor so far.

Do you ever get harrassed by cops or @inspection for not having fender flares? Thinking about selling mine....

The PRP and other suspension seats aren't like the ones you probably are use to they aren't as form fitting as you would think like a snug factory seat is the best I can describe this style seat from Corberau or PRP. Now if you want something like what you are probably thinking of ISP makes offroad seats but you gotta come down to NC and get fitted for them.

    Thanks Colin :fistbump:

The dingus comes attached from the factory with an L bracket to the roof and once you mount the rack it just bolts to it instead.

Prinsu sells a special rack, the T3 just for the Taco dingus.

After Installation it seemed off kilter and the head was even a little crooked. I could live with that but I didn't like the pressure/stress at the connection. They're brass nutserts in the plastic. It bugged me.

    20200201_164052~2.jpg

I felt it needed spacers and prefer the setup more this way. It also makes cleaning the A pillar easier and doesn't stress the fender attachment point or head of the dingus attachment point. The head of the dingus is straighter now too which is a plus.
